Parents Corner
We want to start off by thanking all of you for a great first half of the year! Mrs. Amberger, Mrs. Wanstrath and I are so pleased with how the year is going. Your children are amazing! We feel blessed to be in your lives.
We will all stay very busy during this month. We will do our second set of evaluations with each one of the Pre K children. It is the exact same evaluation we gave early in the year. This second time around we will be concentrating on the answers that your child missed during the first evaluation. We are not looking for perfection, but we are looking for continued movement forward. I will be meeting with each of you during the week of 2/20 for a one on one conference to talk about how great your child is doing and some areas where we can continue to work. I will email you with time options.
During this month the PreK children will be working with the kindergarteners to do a service project for the police and firefighters in the Batesville area. The plan is to walk over our special treats! With the help of the 7th and 8th graders the Tues/Thurs kiddos will be making a craft to help remember their faith! Every grade is tasked with doing a service project during Catholic Schools Week. We are excited to contribute!
We will be trying to fit in a field trip over to see the music teacher Ms. Kushman. Still working out the details, but I think we can make it work. The children will love learning some new songs and playing with her instruments.
God in Our Lives
We will be talking about manners. How the way we treat others, is how we treat Jesus. Through a game, the children love to pick out which images show the people doing the right thing!!
Both Pre K and Tues/Thursday children will learn the story of Noah’s Ark. We will talk about how Noah believed so hard and was certain God knew what he was doing. He just had to believe.
Of course celebrating Catholic Schools Week allows us to remember how central Jesus' teachings are to every day in our school.

Missy m. Mouse
I am not a fan of mice…but I make an exception for Missy. During this week we will fix muffins and eat them for snack. We will decorate the letter Mm using macaroni. The PreK children will learn about Mat Man who is constructed of wooden shapes. The children will draw a picture of a person. Then we will gather around, listen to a song and build a “Mat Man.” This exercise helps the children see the anatomy of a person and how it would look. (Like a person’s arms come out of their body not their neck.) They will then go back and draw another picture. The difference is amazing! We will put the pictures in their binders.
This is the week when we discuss manners and how they are so important!
Nigel n. Nightowl
Everyone gets to wear a name tag during school to celebrate the letter Nn. We will practice scissor skills by cutting newspaper. We will show the PreK children a real bird’s nest and a super cool video that shows how a bird makes a nest. The Tues/Thrs. group will begin to trace their names.
Olive o. Octopus
We will have oyster crackers and mandarin oranges for snack. We will talk about opposites and the ocean. Playing the opposite game with your child is fun and easy practice. I’m excited for the ocean craft the M/W/F children will make!
