Open house will be held for current OVS high school families and current 8th graders, from 6-7:30 pm. Please come and experience what a typical day for your learner while in the classroom, as well as learn about upcoming ACT testing, registration, and upcoming events.
Please enter through the Career Center doors where you drop off students. Meet us in room 474b on the 4th floor. We hope to see you there!
High School Registration Meetings
Ms. Barnes, our high school counselor, would like to take 30 minutes to meet with current 9th-11th grade families about registration for next year, This will ensure all learners are on the right path to graduation. We would like the learning coach and the student to attend these meetings.
Sessions will be scheduled during face-to-face time, but there are a few slots during open house on 2/13 if you are typically unable to attend during the day.
Please use the Sign Up Genius Link to reserve your time.
OVS Yearbook
We will have an ALL School yearbook this year! If you haven't already, you should receive an email from TreeRing.com to create an account to purchase your learner's yearbook AND to create a personalized page for your family.
If you have any questions, please email Mrs. Kitko at christmas.kitko@ops.org.

Learning Coach Lounge
A note from Brooke on the learning coach lounge:
I would like to take a moment to address the learning coach lounge. As you probably know, this is a shared lounge for both OPS staff and our learning coaches. I would like to thank those who I see regularly wiping down surfaces, keeping the coffee area tidy, and doing overall housekeeping in the lounge. Please know that it is greatly appreciated.
There have been a lot of days this year that I have had to spend 30 minutes or more cleaning up leftover food, throwing away half finished coffees, erasing scribbles on the walls, putting together puzzles, picking up toys, and navigating situations with unhappy OPS employees.
I would greatly appreciate it if families who utilize the learning coach lounge ensure each week that they have put the lounge back to it's original state before they leave. We want the lounge to be an inviting place where learning coaches can feel free to enjoy time socializing with other learning coaches, but this is also a room where we hold information sessions for new families, and have meetings from time to time. A dirty lounge makes a bad impression for prospective families.
There is an eraser in the lounge for the dry erase board, and there are cleaning wipes on the shelf by the window. If things like wipes need to be replaced, feel free to let me know and I will be happy to replace them.
I really appreciate your help in keeping the learning coach lounge a happy place to hang out while you wait for your learners.

Inclement Weather- Snow Days, Late Start, and Early Release
SNOW DAYS
If Omaha Public Schools has a snow day. Omaha Virtual School will NOT be in session.
What this means:
- No face to face class sessions
- No online lessons
- Teachers are not "on duty" so response time to emails may be delayed
- No after school or school related activities will occur (LC training, robotics, open art, etc.)
However, students can still work on their coursework at home. :)
LATE START/EARLY RELEASE
The district's plan is to announce the night before a weather event, if there will be a two-hour late start or a two-hour early release if weather is predicted to affect part, but not all of a school day.WHEN OMAHA PUBLIC SCHOOLS announce a 2 hour late start or early dismissal, Omaha Virtual School procedures/schedule are as follows:

Those concerns may be about personal safety, self-harm, or threats against another person or the community.
You may have seen coverage of the partnership and platform in local media this week.
