Lubbock-Cooper Education Foundation Grants Awarded
The Pre-K teachers received $1,016 for their grant "Bee Bots in Pre-K". They will be able to purchase Bee Bots to use in their classroom. These will be used to teach sequencing, problem solving and estimation.
The 2nd grade teachers received $3,800 for the grant "The Power of Play". They will be able to purchase a variety of manipulatives to develop STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) projects with their classes. STEM projects allow students to work collaboratively, be creative and use problem solving skills.
CONGRATULATIONS PRE-K AND 2ND GRADE!!!

Grading for 6th Six Weeks
Sixth six weeks Progress Reports -
Grade Input Start Date is 04/26/2017
Grade Input End Date is 05/01/2017
Sixth six weeks Report Cards -
Grade Input Start Date is 05/22/2017
Grade Input End Date is 05/25/2017
These dates are later than those we have used in the past. This will give us a full 6 weeks to assess our students and should be a truer representation of student work/progress in the final grading period than we have had in the past.
We do understand that this last six weeks is full of lots of special events, so we have agreed that the following grading guidelines may be used for the sixth six weeks:
ELA, Reading, & Math (All Levels) -
Minimum of 6 formative assessments
Minimum of 2 summative assessments
Science (5th Grade) -
Minimum of 6 formative assessments
Minimum of 2 summative assessments
Science (Grades 1,2) -
Minimum of 4 formative assessments
Science (Grades 3,4) -
Minimum of 4 formative assessments
Minimum of 2 summative assessments
Social Studies (All Levels) -
Minimum of 4 formative assessments
CEPA Daddy & Daughter Dance
Tickets for the dance will be $5 per person. A note with more information will be coming home very soon.
MAP Assessments
The window for End-of-Year MAP Assessments is April 10-25.
You can create your own test sessions for MAP starting tomorrow. All test sessions need to be created by Friday. Here is a link to a Google folder that will remind you of this process: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B-EedE71CeIsZkF6NEVaekRGYUU
We want this administration to be less obtrusive to your classroom routines and in an effort to improve our practice, we have determined it is best to be more "hands-off" this time around.
Those of you with classroom sets of iPads are free to administer the MAP assessments at anytime in your classrooms. Those of you without class sets of iPads will have the opportunity to sign up for test times very soon. Please be on the lookout for another email with a sign-up link.
As you plan for next six weeks, please just work this is as you see fit. If needed, we'd be happy to have a make-up session for our campus on April 26.
