April Field Trip
Field Trip Volunteers
We are excited to announce our upcoming field trip to Lego Land on Monday, April 3rd! To make this trip possible, we are in need of chaperones. Please consider signing up to be one of the three parents allowed per classroom. If we receive more volunteers than we need, we will have to draw names to determine who can join us.
Please note that any interested parent must have a background check on file in the front office prior to the field trip. This is for the safety of our students. The field trip will be an all-day event, beginning at 8:45 am and returning around 2:00 pm.
We hope that you will consider volunteering as a chaperone for this exciting field trip. Thank you for your support and involvement in our students' education.
Sincerely, The Kindergarten Team

Jacket Weather
Please label your child's jacket with their name. Jackets will be taken off during the day. The easiest way for them to find their way back to the correct child is to label it.
Have your child practice putting the jacket on by themselves. This includes zippers and buttons. Being able to put on a jacket is an age-appropriate skill for a kindergartener to do independently.
Send a warm change of clothes. All types of accidents can happen in kindergarten. Please make sure your child has a complete change of clothes at school with items appropriate for cooler weather.

Save the Dates: Dooley PTA Spirit Nights!
This Week in Literacy, students will be able to...
... apply letter/sound knowledge to writing words
...demonstrate phonemic awareness by listening and recalling sounds heard in words.
...use complete sentences to share my thinking.
...make predictions while reading a story
...make inferences using clues from the text
...listen to a story read aloud and identify the important characters and setting
Your child needs to be learning the letter/sound connection. Below is a link to a song we are learning at school to help them along.
In Math we are:

- identifying attributes of shapes
- counting to 100 by one's from any starting point
The next few weeks in Inquiry and Innovation, students will be able to...
- understand wants and needs
- define wants and needs
- give examples of wants and needs
Changes in Transportation
If you have something come up and need to make a change after the school day has started. Contact the front office, at 469-752-1102. Teachers are busy working during the day and may not be able to check their email or answer the phone. Contacting the office will assure you the message was received and your child will go home the appropriate way.
Water Bottles
Shoes for PE
Snacks
Also, we ask that you do not put their snack in their lunch boxes. Putting their snack separately, helps them easily identify what is meant to be a snack and cuts down on confusion.
