Celebrating Student Success!
The Tejeda Mathcounts mathletes participated in the Regional Mathcounts competition last Saturday, Feb. 11, at St. Mary’s University. The top 4 teams and top 10 individuals will advance to the state competition on March 25th in Austin. Tejeda’s team consisting of Ammar Thayani, Kole Wooster, Gustavo Urbina, and Daniel Rojas was one of four teams to advance to state. Heewon Yoon and Gina Yu scored in the top ten to advance as individuals. Tejeda is sending 6 students to the state competition, 50% more than any other middle school in San Antonio/Bexar County. It’s also important to know that Heewon Yoon and Daniel Rojas were two of ten students to make the Countdown Round, where students go head-to-head answering extremely challenging math problems. While they didn’t finish in the top three, Heewon and Daniel represented Tejeda well. Overall, our math students represented Tejeda extremely well. I’m very proud of their accomplishment.
In Tennis our student athletes earned a hard fought victory over Bradley at last Wednesday's competition at Blossom Athletic Center!
Congratulations to all of these students who competed in these contests and their coaches for a job well done! Go Timberwolves! I am very happy for your achievements!
Thankful for Your Generous Giving

Girls' Track and Field Season!
Make A Change Festival!
Claudia Taylor “Lady Bird” Johnson High School’s Future Business Leaders of America are hosting our second annual Make A Change Festival on Friday, February 24, 2017 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Johnson high school. We are having a glow walk on a track we have mapped out around our school and booths with games hosted by businesses and school clubs on our football field along with our DJ. All the proceeds raised from this event will be donated to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. We chose this charity because breast cancer is a growing problem in our community with 1 in 8 U.S. women developing invasive breast cancer and 1 in 1,000 men developing invasive breast cancer. Also our chapter’s president lost his grandmother to breast cancer last summer and my grandfather is a survivor of breast cancer. Raising money for this cause allows new technology to be developed to find safer, more affordable, less painful treatments. We will also raise awareness of healthy habits to detect breast cancer in an earlier stage, making it easier to treat.
We would love to have our whole community come together and support this cause and memorialize those who have lost the battle to this dreadful disease and celebrate those who have defeated it.
