Islam
The followers of Islam are called Muslims. The Muslims only believe in one God , the God of Abraham. Islam is a monotheistic religion. The 2 worship leaders for Muslims are called imams and mullahs. The place that Muslims worship is called a Mosque. Muslims believe in the 5 pillars 1. belief- believe in God 2. prayer- pray 5 times a day 3. charity- to give or being given 4. fasting- to not eat or drink 5. pilgrimage- annual hajj. Muslims pray at dawn , mid-day , afternoon , sun set , and nighttime. The Muslims Holy Book is called the Koran. Some traditions of Muslims are that women dress modestly , to practice the five pillars , to pray 5 times a day , and to not drink alcohol. The common Holy sites are Mecca in Saudi Arabia and Jerusalem the dome of the rock. The Muslims worship on Fridays at the Mosque. One biggest holiday for Muslims is called Ramadan. Ramadan is a the ninth month , which is the holiest month and on that month is to remember that you are blessed and to show how much you have and how well of a life you have. Ramadan is when the rich and the poor feel equal. Ramadan night is when the Koran is when the Koran was sent down. Muslims go to the annual hajj to see a very special building called the Kaaba. The Kaaba is so special because the Holy Koran makes it clear that Abraham and his son were the true founders of the Kaaba , that is what makes it so holy and sacred.
