What did we learn?
Ask your child to share how they used straws to count by 1s, 10s, and 100s.
Reading: This week we practiced strategies to improve reading fluency and were reminded to choose just-right books when book shopping in the classroom and reading at home. You can see the posters below about fluency and the 5-finger strategy for choosing just-right books.
Ask your child to read aloud for you to share how they are working on fluency.
Writing: This week we had a 'Choice' writing week. Students wrote in any genre (narrative, poetry, comic strips, information books, etc). Published personal narratives from the last unit and their choice pieces from this week have been sent home.
Please listen to your child read their story and celebrate their hard work!
Science and Social Studies: We started a brand new unit called "Once Upon a Seed's Needs." We will be exploring plants, seeds and pollinators throughout the next several weeks.
