8th Grade Lessons on Endorsements and 4 Year Plan
8th grade students received information about how to choose an Endorsement and create a 4-Year Plan earlier this spring.
An endorsement is a series of High School courses that are related to interests or career goals your student has. Some compare an endorsement to a college major in that it is an area of focus for your student during High School. Endorsements are taken as electives and do not change the required core courses that your student will need to fulfill graduation requirements. Your student will earn at least one endorsement as part of their graduation requirements.
The purpose of the 4-Year Plan is to help students in meeting graduation requirements. This is a guide and a fluid plan. The 4-Year Plan will change and evolve throughout high school. You will continue to revisit it each year as your do course selections throughout high school. No need to stress! This is a tool to help understand what is required for graduation and help students plan for the upcoming four years of high school.

SB 9 Lesson
Texas Education Agency (TEA) requires anti-victimization lessons be taught in all public schools. Texas legislature also requires parents/guardians to opt-in to these lessons. In 6th-8th grade, we will cover the SB9 topics on the prevention of Child Abuse, Dating Violence, Family Violence, and Sex Trafficking. Most families have already indicated their opt-in or opt-out status in their Skyward Back to School forms. If you have not yet completed the SB9 form in Skyward, you will receive an email from our counseling team. Please see the Parent/Guardian Preview which provides the actual video your student(s) will watch, as well as, more information regarding these prevention lessons. If you have any questions, please reach out to our Mrs. Bonner or Ms. Mason.
