EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP SCHOOL DISTRICT
Central Office Communications: Week of March 29, 2021
Our current reality
Dear EHT School Community,
Our increased in-person learning for students for 4 abbreviated days went exceptionally well. Students from Cohorts A and B joined together for the first time this school year and were greeted by bus drivers, teachers, staff, administration, school bands, and ‘Mighty’ the EHT Eagle! It was so great to see more students in school enjoying education.
Spring Break begins on April 1st and concludes on April 11th. Teachers and students will return to teaching and learning on April 12th and follow the 4-1 model. On April 26th, we will move to 5 days of in-person instruction. There will be more information forthcoming for each grade level after break that will pertain to that next step in our road forward to more in-person instruction. Please take the time to become familiar with travel advisory recommendations, along with changing COVID -19 data in our community. I ask that you are aware of the factors that could bring change to our plans and could have an impact on the functionality of our schools. The contributing factors that would cause any change to our plan would be:
Change in CDC, NJDOE, NJDOH, ACDoPH, Guidance
High/moderate levels of linked COVID-19 transmission occurring in schools
Rapidly accelerating community transmission
Numbers in quarantine
As you know by now, the health, safety, and welfare of our staff and students is of the utmost importance to me. My staff and I keep abreast of the guidance from the CDC, NJDOE, NJDOH, and ACDoPH. This includes monitoring the status of COVID-19 in our district and county as changes in case data and contributing factors that could have an impact on the EHT Road Forward Plan. We will continue to stress the wearing of masks and the importance of social distancing 3-6 feet and to the greatest extent practicable. Our buildings and buses will continue to be cleaned and sanitized on a daily basis.
Together, we all want to provide the best educational experiences for our students in a safe and enjoyable environment.

CLIMATE & CULTURE
The culture of our schools includes our school improvement efforts to increase student achievement for ALL students. Where with Every Hand Together, Every child, Everyday is provided a relevant learning experience. Through professional development opportunities we are building an effective learning culture where students are provided a safe learning environment. Our teachers collaborate in professional learning communities to review student progress in order to provide ALL students with the opportunity to learn at high levels. We have a district -wide initiative that includes individualized interventions through the RTI process to assist ALL students with learning. We know that in order to successfully educate each student, we must be cognizant of each student’s individual learning needs. This can only be accomplished if we work together to eliminate any predictability of achievement disparities by race, ethnicity, gender, language, disability, and/or economics. All faculty and staff participated in equity training during our professional learning days. Together, we can achieve more!

EARNED THOSE STRIPES!
We are so pleased with the look of our new track and turf! The entire facility speaks to #EHTPride! Students are now using the facility to train and compete.
MESSAGE TO OUR STUDENT ATHLETES AND FINE AND PERFORMING ARTS
Our High School Fine and Performing Arts students will showcase their talents in the EHTHS Drama department’s production of Victor Hugo’s Les Miserables. Our EHTHS Musical Cast and Crew are so excited to bring this production to you. The live show dates are April 6, 7, 8, and 9 at 6PM. The EHTHS auditorium will be at 25% capacity. Face coverings are required at all times in the building and throughout the performance. Tickets are $10. They can be reserved by e-mailing Jason Kristeller at kristelj@eht.k12.nj.us. Payments can be made by cash or by check written out to EHTHS Musical. **No tickets will be sold at the door without prior reservations. We will be live streaming and information on the stream will be released in the coming weeks. This will certainly be a truly unique viewing experience for our audiences.
The fourth athletic season will begin on April 1st with spring sports out on the fields, track, water, and courts in full swing. We are so happy for our spring sport athletics to be competing again being they lost their season last year. The following is updated guidance from the NJSIAA:
Out of State Competition Update – Season 4: In accordance with Executive Order No. 232 (2021), NJSIAA will permit out-of-state competition during Season 4 for outdoor sports only (B Tennis, Golf, Lacrosse, Softball, Baseball and Spring Track & Field) pursuant to the latest New Jersey state travel restrictions. Therefore, an NJSIAA member school may only compete against out-of-state opponents from Delaware, Pennsylvania, New York and Connecticut. This applies for home games and away games. If an NJSIAA member school travels to an out-of-state opponent in one of these four states, it may only be out of state for less than 24 hours; therefore, no overnight travel is permitted. In accordance with Executive Order No. 232 (2021), NJSIAA continues to prohibit out-of-state competition for all indoor sports.
Outdoor Gathering Limits Update – Season 4: Effective Friday, April 2nd, the general outdoor gathering limit will increase to 200 persons. As a result, the rules regarding youth sports activities (which includes high school sports) will be updated to clarify that participating athletes, coaches, officials and other staff are not subject to the 200-person limit; therefore, general spectators will be limited to 200 and does not include coaches, athletics, trainers officials, or event staff... This new Executive Order will remove the reference to two parents/guardians per participating athlete being in attendance so that general spectators will now be permitted to attend.
To all of our students who are involved in the Arts and athletics- thank you for your commitment to serving your passion and our school district! Congratulations to the High School Drumline and color guard on their stellar performances this past week.
I am proud of you !
Good Luck Eagles !
