To prove that 4 + 1 + 5 equals 10, Kai uses facts the he knows. For example, the 5 in 5 + 5 can be broken into a 4 and 1, accurately matching his three digit equation. Kai also knows that 6 + 4 gets him to 10. Kai can manipulate his three digit equation to match this facts as well by adding the five and one together to make six. When it's added to the remaining four, he again solves for ten.
