Principal's Message
Happy Friday Bobcat Families!
Thank you for another great week. I so appreciate your trust in our school as we kept staff and students safe while on HOLD status on Thursday. Though brief, it gave us all an opportunity to practice skills we must keep sharp daily. I am proud of how our students and staff conducted themselves during that unexpected change.
Next week is Kindness Week and Penny Wars. While we love the friendly competition of Penny Wars, please remember to encourage students to be good sports and show kindness.
Please note the PTO Movie Trivia Night scheduled for February 6th has been rescheduled to March 6th. We hope to see you there!
Interims will go home on Tuesday as well as copy of your student's STAR Winter Parent Report. Our school goal is for 75% or more of our students to meet their Student Growth Percentile (SGP) between Fall 2022 and Spring 2023. Classes that achieve the goal receive pizza parties. We have recently installed data boards around the school as our students and staff can track their progress in both subjects as well as in attendance. We hope to have an attendance goal of 100% of staff and students on site for 3 out of 5 days in a given week. I know we will all do our part to reach both goals. Lets do the work Bobcats!
Have a great weekend!

A Bobcat Shout-out To...
...5th Graders, Laurel Hilley and Pippa Smith!
Congratulations to Laurel Hilley and Pippa Smith for being selected to the South Carolina Elementary Honor Choir! Comprised of auditioned singers in grades 4, 5, and 6 from across the state, the South Carolina Music Educators Association (SCMEA) Elementary Honor Choir convenes annually at the SCMEA Professional Development Conference. Past clinicians have included Lynell Joy Jenkins, Henry Leck, Andrea Ramsey, Rollo Dilworth, Ken Berg, Christi Cary Miller, and many others.
Laurel and Pippa will join around 250 other students from all over the state on February 2-4 and work with choral clinician, conductor, and lecturer, Herbert Washington. Their hard work will be showcased in their concert on February 4 at Lexington Baptist Church at 10:00 AM. Let's hear it for Laurel and Pippa for representing A.C. Moore so well!
💙 Kindness Week Begins Monday! 💙
I am excited to announce that A.C. Moore will be celebrating our fifth annual Kindness Week from February 6th-10th! This week will be filled with ways for our students to learn, explore, and practice kindness. Studies have indicated that promoting kindness in children (AND adults) promotes self-confidence, optimism, leadership, and increased happiness.

In Celebration of Black History Month 2023
Black Resistance: A Journey to Equality
When Carter G. Woodson established Negro History week in 1926, he realized the importance of providing a theme to focus the attention of the public. In support of this year's theme, Black Resistance, the National Museum of African American History and Culture shares key stories to celebrate how African Americans worked collectively to serve and strengthen their communities, often "Making A Way Out of No Way."
By resisting, African Americans continue to mobilize resources and shape social movements to create a space for Black Americans to thrive. We invite everyone to join us in exploring the histories of Black freedom movements—from slavery and abolition to other ongoing struggles for civil and human rights.
Thank you PTO for our Monthly Breakfast Cart!

Need to Report an Absence for your Student? Click Below
Assignments for COVID Related Absences
For the 22-23 school year, students that are absent due to illness will receive any missed and/or make-up assignments upon return to school. They will have 5 days to return the completed work to their teacher. This is in accordance with AC Moore's typical absence policy. Devices and extended absence assignments will not be sent home this year. Virtual check-in sessions with students will also not occur. Those practices and procedures were in place as a result of Richland One's response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Bobcat Families--Please note that the neighbors directly across from the front of the school are having difficulties getting their trash picked up when vehicles are parked in front of their homes and along the edge of their yard. Your courtesy and consideration would be greatly appreciated in addressing their concerns. When visiting the school, please park in the visitors parking area at the corner of Etiwan Avenue and Rosewood Drive and along the street in designated parking spaces.
Important Carline Pick-up and Drop-off Reminders
In an effort to keep the carline safe for students and staff, it is requested that the following carline procedures be followed during the morning and afternoon carline.
- Please pull as far forward to the end of the carline (towards Rosewood Dr.) before stopping your vehicle to allow your student to enter/exit through the gate; do not stop at the main entrance to let students out of or into the car.
- Students are to get out on the passenger side of the carline only, not from the driver side, side facing the road.
- Parents should remain in the car and allow school staff to assist the students into or out of cars.
