A note from my laptop to yours

Hello everyone,

I wanted to thank each of you for your support and excitement during our annual Literacy Week. From door decorations to Family Literacy Night to Book Character Dress Up Day, our students were very involved and motivated to participate. Your involvement helps make this happen.

Preschool-PreK students have been retelling stories through theater, puppet shows and other activities. The Napping House, Goldilocks and the Three Bears and other books have been enjoyed by all.

Kindergarten-We have "traveled" across the globe to Africa to learn about Wangari's Trees of Peace, Kenya and the traditions of the tooth fairy in Mali.

First Grade-Students have become Mock Caldecott Committee members and are critically analyzing three award wining picture books. At the end of the unit, they will determine which of the books is the Gold medal Caldecott winner.

Second Grade-Students have become Mock Caldecott Committee members and are critically analyzing three award wining picture books. At the end of the unit, they will determine which of the books is the Gold medal Caldecott winner.

Third-Grade- For the last weeks of class, we will be playing games to learn about reference materials such as dictionaries, almanacs and encyclopedias. Students will develop skills on searching and determining the purposes of these resources.

Fourth Grade-For the last weeks of class, we will be playing games to learn about reference materials such as dictionaries, almanacs and encyclopedias. Students will develop skills on searching and determining the purposes of these resources.

Fifth Grade-For the last weeks of class, we will be playing games to learn about reference materials such as dictionaries, almanacs and encyclopedias. Students will develop skills on searching and determining the purposes of these resources.

Students have been instructed on how to use our online Library Catalog to narrow the results to their Lexile range and a particular section of the LMC.
