Poverty
Poverty was growing and growing in the decaying in inner cities, not many people knew about the poverty. Many Americans believed that it could never happen to them because they're the most powerful nation on earth. In 1959, the poverty line for a family of four was $2,973. Despite of all the poverty in America, Michael Harrington published an account of the poverty in America. Poverty was a major issue for America in the 1950's.
Mexican Seek Employment
Many Mexicans became U.S. citizens during the 19th century. Since the shortage of the agricultural laborers, the government created a program in which Mexican braceros, hired hands. The Mexican braceros were allowed into the United States to harvest crops. Hundreds of thousands of braceros entered the U.S. Once it was all over they returned to Mexico.
