*Important: Lunch Time Shopping Information For Students:
Students who bring money or have an eWallet may shop during the lunch hour.
Grade levels are staggered so the fair doesn't become too crowded.
Teachers will distribute tickets to students with money or eWallet.
Students may choose to bring one friend.
Please don't send blank checks or credit/debit cards to school with your student.
Students should use cash only, in a ziplock bag or wallet, with their name on it.
Students are responsible for their own money.
Parents and guardians may shop during all open hours.
Credit cards, Apple Pay, checks and cash are accepted. Debit cards are not accepted.
Book Fair eWallet:
Our Book Fair offers eWallet, a safe and secure alternative to cash. Simply create a free account to add funds and/or invite family and friends to contribute so your child can select their own books. Any unused funds can be spent at The Scholastic Store Online or to fund a future eWallet.
Click here to watch a short introduction to eWallet.
If you can’t make it to the in-person Fair, then shop at our school’s Online Book Fair from April 22 - May 5. All orders ship directly to your home, and shipping is free for book orders over $25. Your online orders will also benefit our school.

Alta Vista Cares: Afghan Refugee Community Service Project
Alta Vista (in partnership with UMS) is assisting in apartment setups for 50 Afghan Refugee Families transitioning from temporary housing in motels to more long term housing in apartments. Each family has on average 7 people. Currently the most needed items are mattresses and bedding as families are sleeping on the floor. Please help these families by signing up here to provide much needed supplies or donations for their apartments. Supplies can be dropped off at 267 Blossom Valley Drive or 15660 El Gato Lane, LG from Monday, April 25th to Friday, May 6th. Questions? Email clairekalia@gmail.com or asmanghori@gmail.com. Thank you!
Multicultural Fair
Alta Vista Families from twelve countries are gearing up to treat you with a taste of food, music, activities, attire and goodies at the 10th Multicultural Fair on
Friday, May 6 from 5.30 - 7.30 pm.
Help us make this event a success with a little bit of your time.
Updated Yearbook Timelines
Important NEW information regarding the delivery of the yearbook to students! Since so many of this year's events are happening later in the school year than usual, we have decided to postpone the delivery of the yearbook until this summer. In doing this we ensure that the yearbook is a true reflection of our school year that is slowly getting back to normal.
Because of this, Alta Vista's Home and School Club will be providing autograph sheets for each student during the last week of classes (this year only). They will come with a self-adhesive strip to attach to the inside of the yearbook. Every child will get this, even if they haven't purchased a yearbook.
Please note the NEW due dates...
CANDID YEARBOOK PHOTOS - If you have already turned in photos - THANK YOU (no need to resubmit)! If you still would like to send in pictures: Please send in pictures ASAP of school life, family life, etc. from this past school year to https://uploads.picabooyearbooks.com/9521478 and place it under the appropriate grade level for your child: Section: TK, Kinder, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th Candid Photos. Do not put them in the teacher's Portrait folders. Ideally, it would be great if each family could submit 3/4 candid photos.
PURCHASE A YEARBOOK - MAY 31st DEADLINE - Please visit https://altavista.picaboo.com to order online. Yearbooks will be shipped to your home address again this year. They will be shipped AFTER school ends. After you purchase, you will receive 2 emails from support@picabooyearbooks.com - one is a receipt and the other is a link to add free personalized pages to your yearbook - you will not be able to add personalized pages after May 31st.
ATTENTION 5TH GRADERS/PARENTS!
- 5th GRADE BABY PHOTOS - May 15 DEADLINE! Please upload a baby photo of your 5th grader to https://uploads.picabooyearbooks.com/9521478 and place it under the Section: 5th grade baby photos (at the very end of the list). Photos of your child between the ages of 1-3 years work best as the students will try to guess who they are. Portraits (taller rather than longer) work best.
- COVER ART COMPETITION - May 15 DEADLINE! 5th graders - It's time to start working on your cover art for the yearbook! We will choose a winner for the front and back. Please email a jpeg of your artwork to am@amandjohn.com or drop off at 125 Lu Ray Dr. in the YEARBOOK BIN on the porch.
If you have any questions, please contact Anne-Marie Hart at am@amandjohn.com.
