We Are St. Ann School
Principal's Newsletter By: Mrs. Bonnie Hall (12/15/2016)
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
May the joy of Christ illuminate every facet of your life! O Come, O Come, Emmanuel!
The word "Emmanuel" means "God with us." He certainly is! Now we must bring Him to others. That what St. Ann's is all about...that is our mission. Happy birthday, Jesus, and many many more!
Next Wednesday, December 21st, is a half-day dismissal-11:30 a.m. Students are invited to roll out of bed that day and wear their pj's to school; in addition, all teddy bears are welcome to check out St. Ann School, too, that day. December 21st at 11:30 a.m. is also the start of our Christmas vacation. School resumes on Thursday, January 5, 2017.
Please note the school office will be closed from December 21st (11:30 a.m.) until January 5th.
On PJ Day, all students will be treated to a cookies and milk treat followed by our traditional Christmas story read by me. Extended Day services will be available that day. Please remember to pack your child a snack and a lunch should he/she be staying for Extended.
Angels and Shepherds Mass - Christmas Eve 4 p.m.
Roughrider News Briefs:
- Please remember our Extended Day Phone is for emergency purposes only.
- The air is getting pretty dry and many of us are turning to lip balms to moisten our lips. Students may use a clear, non-fragrant lip balm (such as Chap Stick) for that purpose if used in moderation. Absolutely no colorful lip glosses and such are allowed under our "No Make-Up Policy." In addition, students are not to wear fragrances to school. Some students (and teachers) are very sensitive to scents; this affects learning. We must be considerate of each other.
- Water bottles are still allowed in class; water only please (not juice, etc.).
- Thank you for leaving a small space cushion between cars in our parking lot especially during these snowy days. While the lot is salted during snow removal, it does tend to have some slippery areas. If everyone can just slow down and give each other some extra room, we'll all get to and from school safely.
- Please do not park your car on Chicago Ave. and walk to pick up your children from the porch at door "P1." The Lansing Police Department designed our drop-off and pick-up procedures. Please join us in the main parking lot. Our teachers are excellent at directing everyone out of the lot in a timely manner.
- A reminder that February's lunch orders are due no later than Friday, January 6th.
Did You Receive Our SchoolMessenger Phone Calls?
If we have a snow day, we will send a SchoolMessenger phone call.

Emergency Closing Information
- http://www.emergencyclosingcenter.com - You can sign up to receive an email from this website shortly after I notify the site of a closure. This is the service that the newscasts utilize to notify the Public of a school closing. When you see the "crawl" at the bottom of a newscast, it came from this website that principals update.
- SchoolMessenger Phone Call - A recorded message is sent to your specified numbers
- Facebook - Like us at Saint Ann Catholic School, Lansing
- Remind - Teachers often will post a closure to their Remind texting accounts
- Please do not call the school to see if school is open; more than likely we are not at school when the decision for an emergency closing is made.
