WHAT’S HAPPENING AT PES?
There are many ways to learn about the exciting things happening here at PES!
The PES Newsletter, our e-newsletter, will be sent out most Friday afternoons to all PES families.

BACK TO SCHOOL EVENTS/IMPORTANT DATES
August 13th - Popsicles with the Principal 10:00AM on the PES playground
August 13th - Class placement information is emailed to families
August 25th - Kindergarten Orientation 9:30AM
August 25th - New Student Orientation 11:30AM
August 31st - First day of school. School begins at 9:00 AM.
September 2nd - Back-to-School Picnic (details coming soon)
September 6th - School Closed in observance of Labor Day
September 7th - School Closed in observance of Rosh Hashanah
September 14th - Open House (5:45-8:00 PM) - Teachers welcome families to their classrooms.
5:45-6:45 PM for Kindergarten, First and Second Grades
7:00-8:00 PM for Third, Fourth and Fifth Grades
September 16th - School Closed in observance of Yom Kippur

2021-2022 CLASS PLACEMENTS
Emails will be sent to all families on Friday, August 13th with class placement information.
SCHOOL HEALTH AND SAFETY
While we anticipate many mitigation strategies to carry over from last year (e.g. mask wearing, hand hygiene, physical distancing), we will continue to follow the guidance of local and state health officials with respect to keeping our school community safe.
Be on the lookout for detailed updates from Superintendent Smith as we approach the start of the new school year.
A NOTE FROM NURSE CRONIN
Medication may only be administered in school with the written order of a physician or dentist, and written authorization of the parent/guardian. Medication orders are needed for all medications and must be must be renewed each year. Medication must be brought to school by a parent in the original container. Students are not permitted to transport medication. Please email Mrs. Cronin (rcronin@region15.org) to arrange drop off for medication before the first day of school.
ARRIVAL & DISMISSAL PROCEDURES
The following information will help ensure a safe and efficient process for student arrival and dismissal.
Arrival of Bus Riders - Bus drop off begins at 8:50 AM. Staff members will be waiting to greet your child as s/he exits the bus in the front of the school.
Arrival of Car Riders - Car rider drop-off begins at 8:50 AM.
Please do not enter the Bus Line at any time.
Staff members will be waiting to greet your child as s/he exits the car.
The parent drop-off/ pick-up lane is on the side of the building. Parents should enter through the main driveway.
The drop-off/ pick-up lane can accommodate up to four cars at a time.
Students should exit and enter from the right/passenger side of the vehicle. Parents should not get out of the car except if necessary to assist their child(ren).
Students who are dropped off will enter the school building through the cafeteria doors.
Students who are being picked-up will exit through the cafeteria doors.
DO NOT pull around a car in the drop-off/ pick-up line, wait for the cars in front of you to pull away.
