The Six Gazette

September Edition

πŸ’ͺ One Month Under Our Belts πŸ’ͺ

It is hard to believe that we have already been in school for over a month. In #theSix, our teachers have been working hard to get to know your child and create lessons that are engaging. We know that virtual learning has been challenging for us all, but it is our hope that your child continues to learn, grow, build on their skills in the (virtual) classroom & beyond, and enjoy their experience in #theSix.

In Case You Missed It

If you were unable to join us for Parent/Meet the Teacher night, please feel review the information shared. It is really important for us to receive feedback from you in an effort to meet the needs of our families and identify ways to support our families moving forward throughout the year. Please take a few minutes to complete the parent survey πŸ™.

RESPECT

Our Habit Highlight for the month of September has been: RESPECT. Each team of teachers has select one student from their team that they felt exemplarily demonstrated the habit throughout the month. Respect is defined as: treating others the way you want to be treated; being considerate and honoring the feelings, opinions, and property of others.

Progress Reports

Stay Informed with Grading

You should receive communication from your team of teachers regarding student progress reports. Sign up as an observer on canvas to see your child's work. If you have not received an update, please be sure to reach out to your child's teacher to inquire about their academic progress.

Explorers Team Updates

Ms. Miller has been hosting Zoom Lunch meetings every other Friday to provide Explorers students an opportunity to gather and socialize during lunch. Please encourage your child to participate and potentially make a new friend!

Trailblazers Team Updates

A Message from Ms. Byrd:

I am so pleased that more students are beginning to turn on their cameras and participate verbally in the classroom. This shows that they are getting more comfortable. Please encourage your child to complete classwork assignments. All students will have up until October 10th to submit any missing work. Parents are encouraged to check their child's activity/engagement in class. I use DyKnow, which is a tool that allows me to check on students' activity on their laptop. Some students are either not engaged in the work or are completely missing from the class. They log in and then leave.

On a lighter note, it is nice to get to see my students and meet their parents as I continue to drop off goodie bags at their homes on Saturday afternoons. Keep looking out for me. I will be dropping by your house soon!

-Ms. Byrd

A Message from Mr. Cody:

I would like to remind families to sign up for Remind & Parent/Guardian Survey. Completing each is a Free 100 in the gradebook! Students have been doing great, but if they need to check their work for each day or assignments due during the week, go to Mr. Cody's Canvas Page. Ask Mr. Cody via email if you have any questions or desire to be added to the Canvas class to follow along.
