From Your Pastors
Dear Zion family –
After lots of ice last week, things have thawed out this week and we are back in full swing!
Welcome Josh Hobratsch
Jenny Kinard has done an amazing job for the past two years as our Connections Coordinator. She has made guests feel welcome and has made sure everything we need for worship – from ushers to Communion servants to refreshments – has been covered. As she transitions out of this position, please welcome Josh Hobratsch as our new Connections Coordinator. Many of you may know Josh because he has been at Zion his whole life. His welcoming presence and expert knowledge of all things Zion will be blessings as we seek to connect with each other and connect new people to Zion!
New Member Class
God is blessing Zion by bringing in lots of new people to our family of faith. Our New Member Class kicks off this weekend and we’re excited to share that we will soon be welcoming twenty new families as members. What an incredible blessing! Please greet these families as you meet them and pray that God would continue to bring more people here to share in this fellowship and grow in faith.
Let’s Have Some Fun!
Are you looking for a great place to enjoy the big game? Then join us this Sunday at 4:30 pm. We’ll share some good food and refreshments as well as playing all sorts of little games like dominoes and board games as we watch the big game on the big screen. Bring a snack to share and join us as we watch the Chiefs take on the Eagles!
Message Series
This weekend is week two of our series Zion At Its Best! where we are looking at what makes Zion uniquely special. This weekend, we’ll be discussing how God has blessed us with a rich legacy. Our primary text for this weekend is Joshua 4:1-7:
When the whole nation had finished crossing the Jordan, the Lord said to Joshua, “Choose twelve men from among the people, one from each tribe, and tell them to take up twelve stones from the middle of the Jordan, from right where the priests are standing, and carry them over with you and put them down at the place where you stay tonight.” So Joshua called together the twelve men he had appointed from the Israelites, one from each tribe, and said to them, “Go over before the ark of the Lord your God into the middle of the Jordan. Each of you is to take up a stone on his shoulder, according to the number of the tribes of the Israelites, to serve as a sign among you. In the future, when your children ask you, ‘What do these stones mean?’ tell them that the flow of the Jordan was cut off before the ark of the covenant of the Lord. When it crossed the Jordan, the waters of the Jordan were cut off. These stones are to be a memorial to the people of Israel forever.”
We’ll see you this weekend in worship at 8 or 10:45 am, or online at zionwalburg.org.
Your pastors love you!
– Pastor Zach & Pastor Kevin
Hebrews Bible Class
Beginning, Sunday, 02/05/23, the Sunday Morning Bible Study Class is taking a break from Martin Luther's Catechism to study and observe the grace of God, through Jesus, set forth in the New Testament book of Hebrews.
The letter to the Hebrews presents Jesus, the Son of God, as the true fulfillment of all Old Testament prophecies. Christians are encouraged to look only to Him as the LORD: the All-Sufficient, Majestic and Sovereign One!
Please join us Sunday mornings at 9:30 a.m. in Zion's Parlor and share the insights of the revealed and glorified Christ as recorded in Hebrews. Study Guides will be available. (If you wish to offset the costs of the guides, you may give a donation to Zion's Business Manager, Steve Cashio, earmarked - "Hebrews Study Guide.)

Teacher Call Committee
The Board of Christian Education voted to Call teachers for Grades Two and Eight for the 2023-2024 school year.
The Call Committee is set. Please join us in praying for the work of this committee, which follows the biblical "call" of asking God to bless our efforts in doing a nationwide search to find the teachers that God will lead us to. This means to place them in our midst to help lead us in our mission of providing a dynamic Christian education in the local community. The committee will begin collecting names of potential teacher candidates, and will do a local, regional, state, and national search for the best teachers- to bless our students. Number one- also place this in your daily prayers- for God to give wisdom, discernment, the proper resources needed, and enough space for our growing school.
The committee members:
Sheri Fischer, teacher
Stephanie Sauls, teacher
Suzan Winkelman, teacher
Gene Buchhorn, Zion member
Samantha Amidon, Community member
Amanda Lester, Representative form the Board of Christian Education
Pastor Kevin Hintze, Pastor

Faith and Film Series
Zion’s Mission Board will be sponsoring Faith and Film at the Palace Theater Sunday nights in July and October. This will be an opportunity for Zion to take the Gospel, literally, to the public square. Hosting the series at the Palace will give members not only a chance to improve their own media literacy but it will be an opportunity to bring that unchurched friend, neighbor, or relative to a neutral place where they can experience Gospel messages revealed to them through the movie and discussion. Contact Philip Hohle if you would like to help host the series. (philip@parabolicmedia.com). Find more information here. <https://www.parabolicmedia.com/faqs/>
Landscape Improvement Fund
The Board of Trustees are beginning the process to provide new landscaping within the asphalt driveways surrounding the Sanctuary/Worship Center (new building) to the South parking lot. The costs are estimated to be around $180,000. Therefore, the Landscape Improvement Fund will be created as a new church dedicated account to help fund these efforts. Please prayerfully consider donating to the Landscape Improvement Fund to help cover these costs to beautify Zion’s campus.

The Lutheran Hour
You and I Together
Together, we have the privilege of carrying the Good News to others, at home and abroad. They write to tell us how Jesus has changed their lives - and how grateful they are, now that their eternity is secure in HIm.
You bring The Lutheran Hour to listeners every week on 1,800 stations locally, and nationally on the Bott Radio Network and Sirius XM's Family Talk channel. They also listen 24/7, on demand, through Spotify, iHeartRadio, Google and Apple Podcasts, and at lhm.org.
You help believers grow in their faith - and equip them to share it with others - through Daily Devotions, our THRED outreach to young adults, and the Cristo Para Todas Las Nociones Spanish-language app.
Together, we are on mission in more than 60 countries. Where the ministry goes, you go with us. Thank You.
