Highlights from our week:
Shared Reading - This week our class began reading two separate texts about Penguins. Students will use both texts to compare and contrast information they learned about Penguins in an assessment next week. These texts also highlighted important nonfiction text features such as graphs, maps, captions, and titles.
Writing - This week students learned about Seals and used the information they acquired to write three facts and a conclusion about the animal. Students took their first draft and began recording it again in their writing notebooks. Next week, students will research an animal of their choice and complete the writing process again.
Science - Our class completed an experiment this week using ice cubes and different liquids. Students predicted whether ice cubes would melt faster in soda or water. Ask your child about our results!
Math - This week our class worked with making groups of tens, filling in missing numbers, and measuring. Student took their Unit 4 test on Tuesday and will be completing additional assessments next week. These assessments will be reflected on the Winter report cards and will be viewed during conferences.
