“Follow the saints because those who follow them will become saints.”
Pope Saint Clement I
From Mr. Merrick
Dear St. Jerome Families,
Thank you to everyone who made for a fun Halloween celebration this past Friday. We also greatly appreciate our Home and School Association providing a treat for our students.
Unfortunately, at the present time, we need to postpone our Family Bingo Night that was scheduled for next Friday, November 12th. Construction on the school hall is still underway as our contractors are experiencing materials shortages. Therefore, our new date will be Friday, January 28th, to kick off Catholic Schools Week. We will put out an updated flyer (as well as a reminder with all of the dates of this year's Home and School family events. We apologize for having to make this adjustment, but it is best (and supply, personnel, and material shortages are certainly widespread in our world right now). We look forward to be able to celebrate together in January as well as debut the hall renovations.
This past Thursday, Fr. Reilly celebrated our October school liturgy. Our 8th graders were our readers, and Deacon Vass and our two other seminarians, John and Issac, joined us as well.
Following the liturgy, we recognized our students of the month for October. These students were selected by their teachers for doing their very best to live the virtue of studiousness:
Henry Hibner, Cynthia Leung, Nicholas Salama, Autumn Logan, Anthony O'Brien, Tyler Czop, Kodi Preston, Bridget Elliott, Edward Fitzhenry, Kaitlyn Harrigan, Noah O’Brien, Alexandra McCormac, Victor Nguyen, Nicholas Cruz, Allyson McAdams, Samantha Hand, William Rodriguez, Caiden Rivera, Peyton Watson, Alessandro Echeverri, and Meghan Stewart.
We also recognized the winners from Lion Week of our Draw a Lion/Color a Lion Contest: Harley-Anna Casper, Lydia Flite, William Halbherr, Charles Benedetto, Damian Fallas Espinoza, Mercy Richardson, Theodore Benedetto, Kelli Peak, David Nguyen, Logan Rivera, Suzie Rhoads, Teaghan Adams, Samantha Hand, Erik Schafer, Adrian Manzur, and our overall winner, Hailey Bradley.
Also, For Lion Week, our 7th & 8th grade students were challenged to write a biography or autobiography for our school mascot, Jerome the Lion. Our contest winners are:
1st Place: Delanee Malin (7th Grade)
2nd Place: Oliviz Czapla (8th Grade)
3rd Place: Caiden Rivera (7th Grade)
Have a great rest of the week; St. Jerome, pray for us!
