Miss Sullivan's December News
December 11, 2016
LOTS here so please read carefully...
Good Afternoon,
One more week before our Christmas break. Next week will be fun, fun, fun! Our Christmas Party is Friday from 8:30-9:30. We will be having “breakfast.” Donuts, milk and juice. If each child can bring $2, that will pay for the party. I do need a couple of parent volunteers to pick up items for the party and decorate/set up. Let me know if you would like to coordinate this. My favorite donuts come from Dunkin’ Donuts!!
Please return the DOGS OF CHARACTER permission slips on Monday, December 14. This is an anti-bullying assembly using real live dogs! I am so excited we have the chance to participate in this. Of course, I’m a dog lover!!
Also, please send me your child’s T-shirt size by Monday, December 14th. We will be ordering boosterthon t-shirts before the Christmas break. You can email it to me at the link below.
You may send a new, unwrapped toy to school to participate in our Toys for Tots drive. We are so excited to be partnering with the Boys and Girls Club of Hood County to collect these TOYS FOR TOTS!
The goal of Toys for Tots, a mission of the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve, is to deliver, through a new toy at Christmas, a message of hope to less fortunate youngsters that will assist them in becoming responsible, productive, patriotic citizens.
Having your child pick out a toy for a needy boy or girl is a great lesson to teach during this time of the year! If you want to help, please send an unwrapped toy to school.
Collection will run through next Wednesday, December 16th.
In Science, we have a required project for class. I have given each student a folder with information on what they need to turn in. They can complete the forms as they are due and leave them in the folder. I will have them turn in the folder to me to review on the date it is due… then give it back to them.
Revised Due dates:
December 14:
- What is the problem they are trying to solve or the question they are trying to answer?
- What are their sources for information they have learned about this topic?
- What is their hypothesis? (This should be in the form of an if, then statement. If this change is made, then that result will happen.)
January 6:
- Materials List
- Variables
January 11:
- Plan (numbered list of steps to perform the experiment
- Table/Graph
- Results/Conclusion
Completed projects are due January 14 for the AES Science Fair.
Next week is NO week!!! No homework; no tutoring; no Odyssey practice! So relax and enjoy this holiday season! I’m loving your sweet kiddos! I look forward to spending each day watching them discover new things. Their excitement and enthusiasm for learning is inspiring.
Have a great weekend!
