Hello Glennwood Families!
I want to wish everyone a wonderful and relaxing Spring Break! It is hard to believe that we have made it through almost an entire school year together! Wow! There have been ups and downs this school year but every day, I feel so fortunate to work with the Glennwood Community. It has truly been amazing to see how we have come together to support one another at this time!
As you know, we are looking forward to the final phase of learning, beginning April 12th. We will be bringing several students back to campus. If you are a family who has chosen to remain virtual, please know that we are committed to ensuring that your student continues to have an engaging and excellent Glennwood education in the virtual space. The only shift for our virtual learners will be a smaller class size.
For our new in-person families who will be returning as of April 12th, please carefully read the important information below to ensure the return to school is as smooth as possible. (If you have already had a child attending in-person, you do not have to fill out the arrival/dismissal form again.) Do not hesitate to contact me with any questions!
Arrival and Dismissal Plans: Please complete this form indicating how your child will be arriving and leaving school. We strongly encourage families to keep plans as consistent as possible to support a smooth transition to and from school each day (if you have already been in-person, you do not need to complete this form again unless you are making a change!). Please remember that all individuals on school grounds must wear a mask that fits snugly over the mouth and nose.
Your in-person teacher as of April 12th will contact you with any supplies, etc needed for the return. For schedules and other information, please review the Return to In-Person Procedures on our website under the Reopening Plans tab. Also, please watch the video below welcoming your child back to in-person learning. The video provides helpful visuals for procedures they will need to know how to navigate when they return on April 12.
Warmest Regards,
Dr. Brookins
Principal
The CSD School Health team is excited to welcome your student back for in-person learning. We would like to share some important information regarding school health forms necessary for attendance. Please make sure that you have completed the Annual Data Update through Infinite Campus, including the health information section.
If your child has a medical condition that may require care during school hours, including asthma, diabetes, or seizures, please provide your school nurse with an updated Care Plan from your child's healthcare provider. Each care plan must be updated annually to provide the most appropriate care for your child's condition.
If your child will require medication at school, a CSD Authorization of Medication form must be completed for each medication. Please note that this form has been revised and does require a healthcare provider's signature for all prescription medication. Medications must be in the original labeled container (over the counter and prescription). Pharmacists can provide a duplicate labeled container with only the school doses if needed
As we prepare for more of our students to return to school in person, there are many things you can do at home to make the transition as smooth as possible. As you know, all students that are returning to the building for learning, are required to wear a face mask. Please pack a few cloth face masks in your child’s backpack in case the one they are wearing needs to be replaced while at school. We will have extra cloth and disposable masks available for any student that does not have one or if the mask needs to be replaced. Proper face masks fit the child well, cover the nose and fit below the chin. Also, there should not be gaps on the sides of the mask. Masks with exhalation valves or gaiters are not permitted.
Please discuss with your child the importance of wearing a face mask, good hand washing and maintaining distance from others. Please practice putting on and removing face masks by touching the straps and avoid touching the front of the mask. Remind them to avoid touching their face when possible. If your child needs to sneeze or cough, it is recommended to do so into the elbow area even with face masks on. Lastly, practice good handwashing at home for about 20 seconds (length of singing the Happy Birthday song twice). This video attached is a great summary for mask-wearing.
I am so excited to meet those students who will be on campus next week! If you have any questions, you may contact me at ebarrington@csdecatur.net

News from CSD Nutrition
CSD School Nutrition has several important updates for our community. Meals remain FREE until the end of the 2020-2021 school year. All students will receive 5 breakfasts and 5 lunches per week. We currently have 4 CSD TakeOutSpot locations to better serve our students. Please email us at meals@csdecatur.net with questions about our meal service plan.
No Spring Break Meal Service
We will not be serving meals over break (April 5-9) as our staff is taking some well-deserved time off. We will resume meal service on Monday, April 12. Please email sblack@csdecatur.net if you need access to community resources during this time.
Elementary In-Person Meal Service UPDATE
We are continuing to offer daily take-home meals (1 breakfast & 1 lunch) to our in-person K-5 students. We do not require any order forms to be filled out IF your child wants meals with no special considerations. If your child is vegetarian or has a special dietary need, please see that section of our update for online forms to fill out. Please encourage your kids to take meals, as it helps us function financially and shows support for what we do.
Elementary Virtual Meal Pick-Up UPDATE
We are still offering DAILY meal pick-up for K-5 elementary school students at Fifth Avenue and Talley Street from 11:40 AM - 12:15 PM. This will allow our K-5 virtual students to receive meals and help support our nutrition program. This will continue after Spring Break.
Virtual Siblings Meal Pick-up UPDATE
We are continuing to allow our in-person siblings to pick up meals for their virtual siblings. Note that this service is only for meals without special considerations. (If you have a virtual student who is a vegetarian or has a special dietary need, see that section of our updates.) Please fill out this form to help us know what school site to send extra meals to https://forms.gle/WurGn6iSJYFaYjfb7
Vegetarian & Special Diet UPDATE
If your child is a vegetarian or has a special dietary need, please fill out this google form: https://forms.gle/BM7ArRokp13i9seX8.
We ask that our virtual students pick up their meals at one of our 4 CSD TakeOutSpots instead of receiving meals via their in-person siblings to protect their health & safety. Vegetarian students should fill out the google form, and no further action is required. Students with special dietary needs should fill out the google form, have a healthcare provider fill out the paperwork "Medical Statement for Accommodating Disabilities," and contact sblack@csdecatur.net for further assistance. Please see the Special Diets tab on our webpage for more details.
