Hello Holland Elementary Parents,
I'd like to pass along some important information regarding Parent-Teacher conferences and report cards:
Conferences
Parent-Teacher conferences will take place on Monday, November 20th through Wednesday, November 22nd. The late night for conferences will be on Monday evening, and parents should receive a confirmation regarding individual conference times from teachers this week.
In addition, our gym teacher, Mr. Johnson, will be available on Tuesday, November 21st to watch school-aged children while parents attend their child's conference. This will be from 1:00-4:00 on this day only, as the children can play in the gym during this time. This should eliminate the need for a babysitter or it may allow both parents to attend the conference.
Report Cards
Please note that report cards will not be available for printing in time for parent conferences. The teachers will not be able to print report cards until November 22nd at 4:00 pm when the information becomes available on the Home Access Center (HAC). This means that parents will not have a hard copy of their child’s report card prior to conferences. If there are any questions about report cards after they become available, you can always contact the teacher for a follow-up meeting or discussion.

Cold and Flu Season
It is that time of year to start talking with your family about how to protect yourselves from colds and the flu. One reminder is to make sure that students come to school properly dressed. When the weather is appropriate, children will be going outside for recess, and it is highly recommended that students bring a coat, hat, and gloves when the days get colder.
Tips for Keeping Your Family Healthy
- The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommend getting a flu shot for all family members. This is the best way to prevent getting the flu.
- Talk to your child about good hand-washing and practice washing for at least 20 seconds.
- Teach your child to cough or sneeze into the bend of their arm. If they use a tissue teach them to dispose of them in a trash can.
- Teach your child to avoid touching their eyes, nose and mouth.
- Teach them to avoid sharing drinks, water bottles, and silverware.
- Do not send your child to school with a fever. It is important for them to stay home from school, rest and drink plenty of fluids.
The 2017 Scooper Bowl is a Ticketed Event. There will be no tickets sold at the door at the event. Each ticket gives the ticket holder a choice of any handmade ceramic bowl and THREE scoops of ice cream. Many toppings will be available to make a delicious dessert!
Parents must Pre-order a bowl and their ice cream choice on the Scooper Bowl Order Form and place in an envelope with cash payment. Payment is Cash Only, thank you!
Please get this order back to your Mrs. AuBuschon at school as soon as possible. Ms. AuBuchon will give the student a ticket after receiving the order. There will only be as many tickets as there are ceramic bowls to purchase. When all bowls are sold - there will be no more tickets.
The deadline for orders is Friday, November 10th - but don't wait! Tickets are selling fast!
