Final Rio Reporter 2019-2020
Final Thoughts before Summer Break
To our Rio Norte Teachers and Staff-Thank you for teaching and caring for our Rio Norte students through many unusual challenges this year. Thank you for being creative and committed to student learning.
To our 8th Grade Students-We are so disappointed we could not send you off with our 8th grade dance, and the Universal Studios trip. But mostly we are disappointed we cannot wish you good luck, and wish you well in person. You will have to imagine all of your teachers, administrators, campus supervisors and staff giving you giant high fives!
To our 7th grade students-We don't know what the fall will look like yet, but we hope to have a spring that looks somewhat normal. We look forward to seeing you soon!
To our Rio Norte PTSA-We are very grateful for all of the amazing support you provided throughout the year. And those smoothies provided during textbook return were awesome!
To our Rio Norte Parents and Families-Thank you for partnering with us to educate your children. It takes a village to raise a child; thank you for allowing us to educate your beautiful children this year.
I am an optimist and a believer that change is possible, that kindness and character matter, and that love conquers hate. I think of these quotes below on a regular basis as they define much of what I believe as a citizen and an educator.
“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed, citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.” -Margaret Mead
“Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. We are caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied in a single garment of destiny. Whatever affects one directly, affects all indirectly.” -Martin Luther King Jr.
Teachers have the power to change the world, one student at a time. We hope our teachers had a positive impact on each student, so they will be equipped to find creative solutions to improve the lives of all people in our country and in our world.
Thank you,
