Cedar Grove Friday Flash
October 20, 2017
Dear Cedar Grove Families,
Thank you to our PTA and families for a fantastic Around the World event. The exhibits, beautiful clothing, and excellent food were enjoyed by all who attended, and it was so great to learn about the many cultures of our school community. Also, thank you to Karina Hirschhorn, our media specialist, for leading the fashion show.
Parent/Teacher conferences are coming on either November 10, 17, or at a time that is arranged between teachers and parents. If you have not scheduled a conference yet, please contact your child's teacher to set up a meeting time. Thank you.
Last but not least, we wanted to inform you that students were kept inside the building today for recess and dismissal. There have been several children that have been stung and/or bothered by bees this week. Although aggressive bees are happening everywhere due to the weather and time of year, the safety of our children is our highest priority. We appreciate your understanding as to why we made this decision on such a beautiful day.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Mr. Derby and Mrs. German

Changes Coming to Public Comments Sign-Up Process at Board Meetings
Beginning Monday, October 23, 2017, the Montgomery County Board of Education will be changing the process to sign up to speak at Board business meetings. Based on feedback from the community and the growing use of technology, we will be asking the community to use a Google form, located on our website, to sign up to speak. Rather than individuals calling the Board Office on the Monday before a Board meeting, the Google form will be open to use on the Friday morning before a Board business meeting until the following Monday at noon. With this new process, telephone calls will no longer be accepted.
Community feedback is essential to informing the Board’s decisions and it is critical that the Board hear and understand the different perspectives of our community members. By changing to an online format, the Board believes it will be able to reach and hear from more individuals within the community. The Board will use many outreach platforms to communicate this change with as many people as possible. Questions may be directed to the Board’s legislative aide, Patricia Swanson.
