From the Principal
Some things to celebrate:
- At our faculty meeting on Friday, the teachers raved about how well students and parents did with the synchronous (live) class meetings! They were so complimentary!
- I have heard so much positive feedback from parents as well!
- I have watched many videos, and have seen many assignments that students have uploaded into their online platforms. They are precious and it warms my heart to see them!
- No traffic at arrival and dismissal! (I couldn't resist...that might be the only time I will ever get to say that!)

The Return of Mott Morning Announcements!
Just when you finished binge watching all of your favorites, VMES Studios drops a new season of Mott Announcements this week!
Our main platform for announcements will be Facebook. We encourage you to go to the Mott Elementary or Mott Families Facebook page for daily announcements. Students are used to hearing them as Morning Announcements, so they will posted by 7:30 each weekday. However, they can be viewed and enjoyed any time of the day you can fit us in!

GRADE LEVEL SCHEDULES
We are hoping these schedule pages are user friendly for parents. Each grade level is broken down by subject and time, with synchronous instruction times listed for each area.
Make note of the 'Student Questions/Needs' and the 'Parent Communication' times listed in the schedules. Those are the times dedicated to answering emails and providing support, but please keep in mind that the teacher may be responding to multiple parent or student requests during those times.
Beginning of the Year Assessments
Starting the week of August 24th, your child will start taking the beginning of the year assessments. These assessments are not for a grade. They are used to help teachers best instruct your child throughout the school year. It is important that your child does the best they can, without help, so that the teacher can plan lessons for your child. The assessments are meant to adjust to your child’s level, so there may be very easy questions and also questions they do not know. It is normal for every child to miss questions, so kindly encourage your child to do the best they can, even if they don’t know an answer. Here are some things to help you prepare for the assessments:
- Make sure you have your student’s log-in information and the name of the test your student should take.
- Schedule enough time for each test so your student isn’t feeling rushed (30-45 minutes should be adequate).
- Ensure a quiet testing area that is free from distractions.
- Discuss with your student the importance of doing their best in order for their teachers to know how to best help them in class.
Mott FAQ
A: This question has come up this week. This is the current statement from the PfISD Return to Learn website: "After the school year begins, a parent may switch their student’s instruction style (virtual learning or on-campus learning) at the end of a grading period."
Q: Can we still sign up for a device even though we previously stated that we didn't need one?
A: We are planning another device distribution day on Thursday from 12-2. We will give them out until we run out of devices. Parents who do not already have a device checked out will need to come to the rear entrance of the school, and fill out a new registration paper indicating their desire to check out a device.
