Instructional Focus
Daily Learning Target
LAFS.2.RI.1.2 - Identify the main topic of a multi-paragraph text as well as the focus of specific paragraphs within the text.
Learning Target:
I can identify the main topic of "Disaster Alert" by using text features (titles, subtitles, pictures) and identifying clues (repeated words/phrases). I will know I have learned this when I can provide textual evidence and explain how I identified the main topic.
Learning Target:
I can identify the main topic of "Disaster Alert" by identifying the main idea of each paragraph in chapter 1 using a graphic organizer. I will know I have learned this when I can explain how the similarities in each paragraph led me to the main topic.
Mr. Johnson and I will continue our walk-throughs this week focusing on daily learning targets. Please make sure your board configuration includes the standard & daily learning target/performance scale. ELA should have the focus question posted also. Please make sure the standard posted is Florida Standards. For those that do not know, you need a Crosswalk for our Ready Gen books. The standards in the books are Common Core - not Florida Standards.

Conference Tips:
At your first conference, share the Family/Student/Teacher Expectations and Responsibilities included in the Title 1 Compact. Be sure to get signatures from all three parties, if possible. Give parents a copy and keep the signed one for yourself. This document should be revisited at future conferences and in instances where unmet responsibilities are interfering with academic achievement.
