IMPORTANT SCHOOL LIBRARY INFORMATION
NEW South Carolina Standards for School Library Resource Collections
The South Carolina State Department of Education has just released UPDATED Standards for School Library Resource Collections (2016).
All schools regardless of enrollment or grades served should use these core collection standards for evaluating the library resource collection. The results of the evaluation should be used for longĀ range planning to establish goals for collection development.South Carolina Library Impact Study - Results Released
The findings of Phase I of the South Carolina school library impact study are consistent with previous available-data research in revealing associations between the academic performance of students and a variety of school library characteristics: library staffing, librarian teaching activities, library expenditures (both total and per student), circulation of library materials (both total and per student), collection size (both print and e-book), and library visits by groups.
The second phase of the South Carolina study is an analysis of data collected in surveys of South Carolina school administrators, teachers, and librarians.
