130 Years to Celebrate

Did you know that 2014 is St. Thomas Public Library's 130th Anniversary? Imagine that! After much digging in our dusty archives, we have a copy of a handwritten bylaw that City Council passed in 1884, stating that a free library would be established January 1885.

Read our current list of reasons to celebrate on the library's website.
As your child grows older, he’ll be on the move—playing, running, and constantly exploring his environment. Snuggling up with a book lets the two of you slow down and recaptures that sweet, cuddly time you enjoyed when he was a baby. Instead of being seen as a chore or a task, reading will become a nurturing activity that will bring the two of you closer together. And it doesn't have to be a parent who reads to a little one. Grandparents and grandchildren, aunts and uncles, and family friends can all build stronger relationships through reading. For more on the benefits of reading with your children, visit The Early Moments website.
The St. Thomas Public Library Board is pleased to announce that the Library successfully achieved Ontario Public Library Accreditation. This certification is a public recognition that the Library and its services have met an expected standard for public libraries in Ontario. Out of a total of 166 required standards, St Thomas Public Library met 165! To find out more, check out the library's blog.
