Reading! Technology! Fun!
November 2013
The Learning Commons has been a busy place! 5th graders have been researching inventors and creating Gamis using the Tellagami app; they started research about different countries this week. 5th graders also particpated in the Global Cardboard Challenge! 1st and 2nd graders have been learning how to use the library catalog and 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders have been finding out about the South Carolina Children's Book Award nominees. Kindergarten has been learning about *my* favorite author, Mo Willems and we have all had a good time getting to know our new library pets, African Dwarf Frogs, Flip and Flop. Please let us know what we can do for you!

Book Fair
Get ready for our Scholastic Book Fair!
Mark your calendar for our TEACHER PREVIEW on Friday, November 15. We are lucky to have Steve Black from Scholastic joining us for book talks! Hear about NEW books, fill out your wish list, and enjoy some snacks! Book Fair will be November 18 - 22!
South Carolina Book Award Program
3rd, 4th, and 5th graders have been learning about the SC Children's Book Award program and I hope to share the SC Picture Book Award program with K, 1st, and 2nd graders soon! This year, students are challenged to read at least 15 of the book award books and write a review about them. Students who complete the challenge will be invited to a celebration at the end of the year!
Picture Book Month
November is Picture Book Month! To celebrate, I will be sharing a picture book tidbit, link, or review on our Learning Commons Facebook and Twitter page EVERYDAY in November! Check out this calendar of activities for Picture Book Month and host your own celebrations throughout the month! http://picturebookmonth.com/calendar/
