Pride, Perseverance and Progress
Hello,
I hope all of our students and families are healthy and settling into the routines of school and distance learning. Please continue to reach out and let us know if anything is needed to help your student be as successful as possible.
Please see the information below that will help you and your student organize their schedules around school.
Please see the Advisory Calendar for the year below.
Advisory classes meet most Wednesdays at 10:00 am. These classes focus on essential information students will need to know for the year as well as social-emotional learning. Attendance will be taken at these classes.
Also, students will meet with grade-level groups throughout the year, led by Mr. Ovenell or Christy to focus on their High School and Beyond Plan and other graduation requirements.
Welcome from Counselor Christy
You might wonder what I do at LA/LHHS. I have a fantastic job getting to support students through their educational trek. I keep track of classes, credits earned, try to create the best schedules for each student. I also support students with social-emotional needs as they navigate through the rocky path of adolescence. I talk/counsel with students about post-high school career paths, any personal social/emotional issues, and meeting the myriad of expectations and responsibilities. My goal is to meet students right where they are and help them build their "skill box" with both immediate and long term skills.
I am a Mental Health Professional with a degree in Marriage and Family Therapy. I have also been a certified Drug and Alcohol Counselor with experience in Dual Diagnosis treatments. My skill set enables me to assist students to get the right help through support and appropriate referrals. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns. LHHS/LA is a great place to learn with a whole dedicated professional staff who genuinely care about you.
Please see the schedule and Meet Codes below to enter each of your google Meets and Classrooms.
Attendance
Thank you for encouraging your students to attend their Google Meets. Remember you need to excuse your student's absence from their Google Meets.
Attendance procedures:
- At 2:15 p.m., a report of students marked absent for google meets from Skyward.
- An auto-email goes out to families at 5:15 p.m. if a student has been marked absent. There will be a form attached for parents to share what students worked on for the day.
- The following day, secretaries make phone calls to check in with families to let them know we did not hear from them &/or they didn't attend a meet all day, but might have filled out the daily check in form.
Every Friday...Pre Order Grab and Go food for students
We will begin the school year with a Pre-Order "Grab and Go" pick up model, once a week for all grades k-12.
All meals must be pre-ordered. Information about the program can be found on the district website.
