From the Desk of the Directors
March is Reading Month is coming up. We are excited to share our theme of "Share a book with a friend!" Our focus is on the joy of reading and the importance of being a good friend. Please stay tuned for more details and please read your child's homeroom newsletter for details.
It is important to talk to your child about being kind in the things that they say and do. Remind students that it is important to think about how the things they say could impact another student. It is never ok for someone to tease or be rude to others. Chatfield students are expected to be kind and supportive to each other. Let's keep our focus on supporting each other through our words and actions.
This is the time of year when we begin to think about the next school year. We do not anticipate many openings next year for enrollment, but we would appreciate it if you would share enrollment details with friends and neighbors. Registration for the Chatfield lottery is due to the school office by April 1, 2020. The form can be found on the school website under enrollemnt. The greatest compliment you can share with the Chatfield staff is the curteousy of a positive referral to another family.
Take Home Science Projects - It's Time!
You and your child can do great science at home with our take home science projects. Our team led by Mrs. Block has numerous science experiments and escape games that are ready to be completed at home. Once you request the activity or escape game we will send home the materials for success! Here's how it works:
1. Fill out the Take Home Science Projects form and return it.
2. Recieve your packet of materials.
3. Experiment or complete the escape games in the comfort of your own home as a team!
4. Nothing needs to be returned!
5. If you would like, share a picture or email a picture to your child's teacher sharing what your family did! This is completely optional!

This is a gentle reminder to slow it down in the parking lot when dropping off and picking up kids, watch for pedestrians, be careful. GO SLOW!
P.I.E. Update
P.I.E. Box Tops - Important Update
We know the program has been through a lot of changes, but we’re still collecting box tops and working out ways to have grade level rewards… but until then we have school-wide prizes and incentives!
When we reach 1,000 box tops we will have popsicles at school,
1300 will be snow cones for everyone,
and 1800 will be 15 minute break for each grade level… at the teacher’s choice (gym time/ extra recess, etc.).
We are already very close to 1000! Remember each box top earned is 10 cents cash for the school!
Both paper and digital box tops are accepted!

Little Free Library News
During March, in honor of March is Reading Month, we are hosting a themed book event in the Little Free Library. The bottom shelf will be reserved for family friendly cook books. Cook books are a fun way to encourage reading in an alternative way. Donate a cookbook, select a cookbook, borrow a cookbook!

Hot Lunch and Lunch Balances
Chatfield's hot lunch is ordered each day and delivered to Chatfield. We only have enough lunches for the students that order hot lunch. We can not allow students to decide to purchase hot lunch once they see it if they did not order it in the morning during attendance time. The orders must be turned in by 9am. If your child arrives at school late and does not order or arrives after 9am, he or she must bring their own lunch. Please contact Ami Davis at adavis@chatfieldschool.org if you have any questions.
Chatfield's Got Talent 2020
The talent show for this school year is coming! It is time to get your act ready! The dress rehearsal is April 22 and the performance is April 23 at the PIX. The link to sign up will be emailed out to families tomorrow, Feb. 25, at 5pm.
Fifth Grade Time to get Ready for Middle School
The Chatfield Middle School Open House is on Thursday, March 5 at 6:30 pm. It is important that at least one parent/guardian attend in order to learn about the course offerings and middle school scheduling process, meet the middle school teachers, and hear from students about what a typical Chatfield middle school day is like. The middle school program of study handbook and scheduling forms will be reviewed and passed out. We are excited for this opportunity to share the wonderful middle school program of study with you.
Additionally, you are welcome to invite friends that might be interested in learning about the Chatfield Middle School to attend this evening.

HERE IT COMES: THE P.I.E. UN-Fundraiser! Please support!
I really don't want to awkwardly ask my friends, family and coworkers AGAIN if they want to buy more wrapping paper, candy or cookie dough. I don't really want to let children wash my car and then have to go wash it again myself. I don't even bake for my family, so I don't really wantto bake for a fundraiser. I don't want to walk, swim or run in any activity that has the word 'thon' in it.
We're right there with you! This year, PIE is hoping to raise only the amount of money that we plan to spend this year, and then throw an even bigger and better bike rodeo next year to fuel two year's worth of projects again. In order to do this, we decided the best way to maintain our account balance would be to do an un-fundraiser... This would be in lieu of sending students home with the task of selling door to door, collecting money and delivering goods. Please help us avoid that by supporting PIE with your donation, and helping us achieve our goals to support our students and faculty.
There is not an official "due date" on this un-fundraiser. Some families may wish to send their donation in right away. Others may choose to wait until after the holidays. However, you decide, please decide to participate! We would appreciate all donations made by March or April. Donations from other families members like grandparents are also accepted. A thank you letter for tax purposes will be provided.
Please see the flyer below for details on how to make your contribution to the UN-fundraiser. Thank you!
PLEASE NOTE: THIS IS ONLY FOR PIE, AND DOES NOT TAKE THE PLACE OF FUNDRAISERS FOR BAND AND / OR MIDDLE SCHOOL CLASS TRIPS.
