New ELA Curriculum
Into Reading for K-6
This is our initial implementation year for Into Reading. This is a 6 year adoption, so your students MyBooks and Know it, Show It workbooks will be replaced each year. If you are looking for resources for implementation there are a few options available:
- ELA Website Page: Into Reading Textbook Page, Curriculum Materials, Resources, and PD This page is your resource for packing guides, novel lists, and PD options.
- ELA Website Page: Into Reading Textbook Information This page is specific to using the Into Reading resources. This is where you will find how to videos.
- FaceBook Groups: There are multiple FaceBook groups for Into Reading. Their core page is called: Teachers Corner from HMH. I also recommend searching for grade level specific groups, there are many helpful resources in these groups. ex. HMH Into Reading 3rd Grade
RSA and New Dyslexia Screening Requirements
Beginning in the 22-23 school year every Kindergarten through 3rd grade student will be given an additional screener to identify Characteristics of Dyslexia. Pam Plumley and I will be visiting with every site, in person, to review this new requirement. All supporting documents and explanations are stored on the ELA Website and can be found by clicking here. You must be logged in to view full content on the ELA Website.
Screening for Characteristics of Dyslexia will be done starting September 12th. Detailed information will be released by September 9th. Parents must be informed of their students results within 30 days. This will be completed during the October Parent Teacher Conference. Please watch the ELA website and email carefully. I will send out supporting documents as they become available from the OK Dept. of Ed.
Yellow RSA plans are being printed and will arrive to schools in the next two weeks. These are to be reviewed and signed during parent teacher conferences, but students are placed on plans using Beginning of the Year STAR scores. For more detailed information, review the RSA for each grade on the ELA Website. Click here for all the information.

Canvas and Into Reading
The connection between Into Reading and you canvas is set and ready to go. You can find it under the Plug In feature on the edit page of your Canvas pages. It is called the HMH ED Linking Tool. This Link has an easy to follow video provided by HMH. Your friendly neighborhood EdTech specialist is also ready and eager to help you get started!
If you haven't already checked it out, EdTEch has a great Canvas page with tons of easy to use directions and videos. For quick reference, here is the link.
Updates to the District Approved Novel List
The district approved novel list is in the works and will be updated soon. Nothing is planned to be moved, but we will update it to align with Into Reading. If you have any suggestions for books to be added, please use this link to submit your suggestion. If you are not familiar with this list, it is found on the ELA website. The only novels that are allowed to be taught, in place of Into Reading, must be on the approved list for your grade, or the grade below you. You are NEVER allowed to teach above your grade, as those teachers have access to those novels.
