If You Haven't Heard Yet, the Alliance for Jewish Theater's 2020 Conference Officially Announced the Location
Alliance for Jewish Theater's 2020 Conference will be
Sunday, October 25 - Tuesday, October 27
in Washington D.C.
hosted by Theater J
Here's something one of our first time attendees said about last year's AJT conference.
“This was my first time attending and volunteering for The Alliance for Jewish Theatre’s 2019 Conference, and it was a profoundly affirming experience of my Jewish identity and my love for theatermaking. Through panels, workshops, and performances, I was able to better to engage myself and my peers in discussions on theater-making rooted in Tikkun Olam. To me, making art, making theatre, is rooted in repairing the world, and therefore, rooted in political activism. Meeting with the attendees and presenters of this conference allowed me to dive deeper into these conversations, and for that, I feel so fortunate. May the seeds and trees that have been planted in the collective consciousness of this community inform our own work and extend out into the world.”
- Danielle Levsky, Social Media Manager, Alliance for Jewish Theatre

Writing a Play from a Jewish Source (AJT Monthly Webinar)

Who - Toby Klein Greenwald, Artistic director of Raise Your Spirits Theatre, Israel
When - Sunday, March 22, 1pm - 2:30pm Eastern Time
How - via Zoom Video and Audio Conferencing
Tickets - Free for AJT Members, $20 for Non-Members
RSVP and More Info - email jeremy@alljewishtheatre.org
The goal of Toby’s webinar is to examine the process of study, writing and directing that comprises the creation of a show written from a Jewish source. We will discuss how to choose from among different interpretations, read between the lnes, and understand the historical context. Ask yourself what story or personalities speak to you personally; about what do you feel passionate? Have questions? Would like to learn more? Let the message reveal itself to you, even if it is something different than what you imagined when you began. Dare to be inspirational.
Toby is an award-winning theater director, journalist and educator, who has authored or co-authored six original biblical musicals – on Esther, Noah, Ruth, Deborah, the daughters of Tzelofchad, and Rebecca, and wrote a spoken word play on Abraham. They have been performed in Israel and licensed for performance in the United States, Canada and India.
