Kingsley Connection
A weekly newsletter from the Kingsley Administrative Team
MAY 19th, 2023
As we wind down the school year, I'd just like to put out a friendly reminder for safety during our drop-off and pick-up lines. Please only drop off and pick up in the carline on Norfolk. There have been reports of parents dropping students off as they are heading westbound on Norfolk. This poses a serious safety concern for our students and holds up traffic. We appreciate your cooperation in following the established procedures.
The weather is starting to get warmer, so please make sure to send students with their water bottles as it can get quite warm in our classrooms and we want our students to stay hydrated.
Have a wonderful weekend,
Chuck Brewster & Eleni Gajewski
Last Day of School
Classes in District 58 will end on Wednesday, June 7, with the dismissal time:
- Grades K – 6 11:30 a.m.
Student Council Fundraiser
JDRF WALK: Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation
The Kingsley Student Council is holding a walk around Kingsley School on Friday, May 26th in the afternoon. All Students will participate in a few short laps around the building to help raise money for JDRF. We will be collecting donations online through June 2, 2023. Thank you in advance for your support!
Please see the JDRF Flyer for donation information.
Summer Math Club
Summer Math Club will be offered again this year! Summer Math Club provides participating students with three math packets for each grade level over the summer, that feature a variety of fun and interesting math activities, designed to keep young math minds active all summer long. After students submit each completed packet, they will receive prizes and their next math packet. Please look for folders sent home in student backpacks in early June with instructions and important dates. If you have any questions, you may reach out to the Kingsley coordinator, Corinne Cooper, at corinne.coop@gmail.com.
In order for D58 PTA to continue to provide Summer Math Club, we need parent and student help!
Each school is asked to have 4 volunteers join the coordinator in helping students during the scheduled check-in days at the DG Public Library. If you would be willing to spend a few hours at the library this summer, please sign up here: PARENT VOLUNTEER SIGNUP
We also need high school aged graders! Answer keys are provided and students can earn service hours if needed. If you have or know of high school aged students, please send along this sign up link: Math Club High School Grader Signup
If you have any questions, please contact Corinne Cooper.

When it comes to class placements for the next school year, be assured that specialists and teachers work diligently to create class lists based on a variety of factors (peer relationships, social-emotional needs, academic needs, etc.). Our staff put in considerable time and collaboration around class lists, and we are grateful for their professional expertise and planning. If a family has a unique situation and feels the need to submit additional input for 23-24 class placement, we request that feedback is shared with both Kingsley administration and not classroom teachers.
