For Staff - September 5 - 9, 2016
Hello Lopez Families,
I hope all is well. I sent out an email this week about a situation that happened at an elementary school near us and I am sure everyone is on guard, but I also want to stress talking to your kids about safety in general. Please remind them to use the crosswalks and look both ways before crossing any intersection. We have a lot of students that come to school early, even before teachers are to report for work. This means we do not have the staff available to watch all the pathways. Friday morning we had a student fall right next to a car pulling in. It actually looked as if he got hit by the car, but I assure you that did not happen and he is ok. We are currently looking at ways to improve the monitoring before and after school, as we are always looking for ways to make Lopez a better place.
We also had a pretty strong rain right as school was ending Friday. I told the kids that were walking home that I would allow them to wait inside until the rain passed. Telling a middle school kid they can hang out at school a little longer on a Friday didn't go over well, of course. But if you can, let them know that is always an option for them.
We have some great things coming up. Please scroll down and check it out.

Lopez Artists are Synergizing
Lopez Rocks!
Are you ready to pass it forward? Synergy! Lopez artists in Mrs. Volz art class painted rocks with inspirational quotes on them. The artists have hidden painted rocks with inspirational words around campus and in the Stone Oak Reagan cluster. Have you found one?
If you find one, you can pass it on to someone, hide it so others can find it, or if you want to keep the rock and you are a Lopez student, you are welcome to join the artists in Mrs. Volz art room on Thursday mornings to paint a new rock and pass on a little kindness.
If you are a community member, you are encouraged to paint some "kindness" at home and then......Pass it on!
Follow us on Instagram Lopez_Artt. Post a photo of the rock you find on your own Instagram page #Lopezrocks.
Lopez Rocks Responsibly!
Place rocks outside of public areas (dog parks, paths, etc.), not inside of stores or businesses, and not private property or yards. You don't have to hide them - you can give them to a friend or family member.
Lopez students are synergizing and passing it forward!
Lost Something? Check with the Main Office.
Lost and Found is located in the Main Office.
Lunch Boxes will be set out on Thursdays and Fridays in the Cafeteria so they can be claimed. Donations of lost items may occur after Thanksgiving, at the semester break, after Spring Break, and at the end of the school year. Please let your kiddos know to go to the Main Office if they have lost something. Thanks!
