Student Safety
Student safety is a top priority at Farney Elementary. If you plan to visit our school, please have your picture ID available every time you are here. When you ring the doorbell, front desk personnel will ask the nature of your visit. Please respond in the intercom. Once access is granted, please enter the security vestibule.
As always, we will be practicing several different emergency scenarios. In addition to monthly fire drills, we are required by our district to practice the following drills: lockdown, shelter, lockout and a reverse evacuation.
Our goal for performing the drills is to provide our students and staff with knowledge about possible emergency situations and to make sure they are familiar with our campus procedures. We will assure students that there is no actual emergency.
Welcome Back
School Communication
We communicate in a variety of ways. The Falcon Flyer is the easiest way to stay “in the know.” You will receive it via School Messenger every two weeks. School Messenger is the district's mass notification system. If you are not enrolled, please click http://www.cfisd.net/en/parents-students/contacts-communications/schoolmessenger/ to sign up. We also post it to Twitter @CFISDFarney and post to the Farney Facebook page. Our mascot, Francine the Falcon, also has her own Instagram page. Simply follow francinethefalcon on Instagram.
Teachers use Twitter and a variety of other methods to communicate (emails, Remind, newsletters, Google Classroom and/or Class Dojo).
Teachers send home weekly folders which include student work and a communication card each Friday. Please sign the card and return the folder to school each Monday.
Z-Pass
Did you know you can receive information about when your child enters and exits the bus? Go to zpassplus.com to access the parent portal and sign up for notifications. The RFID number is located on the left side of their "backpack badge" next to the barcode.
CFISD App
There is a great app for our district. Simply download it and follow the schools your children attend. With a click of a button you can see grades through the Home Access Center, check out the lunch menu, or contact your child's teacher.
Awesome Volunteers
Thanks to everyone who volunteered on the 1st day of school! You helped our students have an amazing first day!
Reserved Parking
The reserved parking spaces at the front of the school are reserved for Farney staff members who frequently leave from and/or return to the building during the school day. Please do not park in these spaces before school, after school, or during the day. For your convenience, we ask all other staff members to use the back parking lot so that there are dozens of visitor spots available to you in the front of the school. We appreciate your cooperation.LIBRARY LOWDOWN

The Kajeet hotspot will allow your student to connect to the internet from either the district-provided Chromebook or a personally owned device. Kajeet is the leading filtered internet service in the nation and will monitor and filter your student’s access to the internet. Chromebooks and/or Kajeet hotspots will be checked out to students as needed to complete assignments or work on projects.

Meet our Additional New Counselor
Hi! My name is Sandra Ayala and I am so excited to be at Farney! A little bit about myself...I’ve been in education for 9 years, 8 of those as an elementary teacher here in CFISD. I have two wonderful daughters, one dog, one cat, and our new addition...a baby bearded dragon! We’re an animal-loving family! I look forward to working with your children and would like to thank you in advance for allowing me the opportunity of getting to know them!
Release of Information Forms
If you are needing Behavior Rating Scales completed or are wanting the school to communicate with an outside entity, private tutor, doctor, etc., you will need to complete a Release of Information Form for this school year. You can request this form through the counseling office. When asking teachers to complete Behavior Rating Scales, you will need to give one week’s notice to allow teachers ample time to complete the forms. These forms will be faxed directly to the doctor’s office and you will be notified once this is completed.
WATCH D.O.G.S.
Now Recruiting Watch Dogs!
Our Watch Dog program consists of Dads or Father Figures of Great Students who volunteer one day at their child’s school. They will perform a variety of tasks including assisting with the car line in the morning, eating lunch with their child, monitoring the cafeteria and helping in their child’s classroom. Right now we are collecting emails for our Watch Dog data base. If you are interested and haven’t already, please complete the registration link below to add your name and email to our list. We will be sending a sign-up link towards the end of September for dads to pick their date on the calendar. Please contact sandra.ayala@cfisd.net or shannon.zepeda@cfisd.net if you have any questions. We look forward to your participation and hope to see many dads at Farney Elementary!

Are you the parent of a pre-school (3-5 years) or school aged child and have concerns regarding your child’s physical, speech, and/or emotional development?
