Mill Creek Students Participate in the "Snowball Shootout!"

This past week, Mil Creek Health and PE teacher, Ms. Leuthe had Mill Creek students involved in the "Snowball Shootout!" During the event, students shot "snowballs" in a healthy competition to determine which class could score the most points. All 1st-6th Grade students were able to participate, but they were also given the opportunity to donate $1 towards our Mill Creek Holiday Project to benefit some of our Community members in need this Holiday Season. Ms. Leuthe's classes competed for "Snowball Shootout Champ" and the "Snowball Shootout Trophy" in 3 categories - 1st/2nd Grade, 3rd/4th Grade, and 5th/6th Grade. Champions are still to be determined based on today's results, but it is safe to say all had a "cool" experience!

Thank you to all who participate and to those who were able to donate!

FROM MR. ORTMAN and MR. MURTHA

December and the Holiday Season bring a lot of excitement and events to school, and those events involve a great deal of support and a great deal of planning. Considering this, we want to take an opportunity to thank the many teachers and staff members who put in extra time to plan classroom events and school activities that add to the spirit and joy of the Winter Holiday Season. We also want to thank our amazing, incredible, and hard-working Home and School, as they play a role in organizing and running more school events than most folks probably realize. Events such as Holiday Classroom Celebrations and Holiday donation drives require a tremendous amount of coordination and planning, and our Home and School does a great deal of work, often behind the scenes, to make this happen! In this vein, if you are able to lend support to our Home and School when asked, such as donating a food item for a Classroom Celebration or donating you time to volunteer, we greatly appreciate it and we know that they greatly appreciate it.

One last thank you to Home and School… In addition to supporting events that are meaningful to students, we want to express our thanks for the teacher/staff appreciation lunch they provided earlier this week. The wonderful lunch and the effort behind it mean a lot to us. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Additionally, as our Jewish Community members begin to celebrate Hannukah this Sunday evening, Hanukkah Sameach to you and your family!

Have a wonderful weekend as we head into the final… and what looks to be exciting… week leading into Winter Break!

Instructional Spotlight - Ms. Durick, 1st Grade

Ms. Durick's 1st Grade students have been celebrating the Winter Holiday Season, and some of that celebration is seen in their work. Just outside of their classroom, the hall is adorned with gingerbread and candy cane artwork they produced on one side of the hallway, and, on the other side, student Holiday writing, focused on their family, can be viewed. Ms. Durick's students wrote well-composed pieces focusing on special moments they share with their respective family (e.g. special taco night; family game night; special family trips). The writing pieces are entitled, My Family is the Best Present Ever!

We loved reading your well-written pieces about family and the Holiday cheer you brought to our hallways! Thank you, Ms. Durick and class!

Student Laptop Expectations

Central Bucks Technology & Innovation Department is asking us to stress the importance of laptop case use for students (grades 3-6) when they transport their laptops and when laptops are not in use for extended periods of time. At school, we will be stressing the importance and reminding students of the need to put their laptop in its case during these times (e.g. when taking a laptop from their classroom to specials class). We ask that you stress these practices at home, too. Thank you for your support!

Additionally, if your child loses or misplaces their laptop case, please reach out to the Mill Creek Main Office.

District Laptop and iPad Care

Central Bucks Innovation and Technology Department has asked us to communicate the following regarding District-issued laptop and iPad care...

  • Please encourage your children to use their laptop/iPad bags for carrying devices in school, at home, and to and from each location.
  • Please encourage your children to report issues/problems with their devices, so they can be properly address and fixed as soon as possible.
  • The laptop/iPad payment fee covers accidental damage. Intentional damage may result in a family being billed for the damage.

Schools will be communicating these messages in school as well.

We appreciate your support!

Inclement Weather Procedures for Car Riders - Dismissal

We ask that, on inclement weather days, car riders post a placard with the student(s) family last name, so we can call in names for quicker dismissal. We will do our best to send a message out earlier in the day if we believe inclement weather dismissal is necessary for car riders. Feel free to use the placard template below if you find it helpful.
