This Week at Placerita 5.1.22 / Esta semana en Placerita 5.1.22
Good Evening Placerita Families…
Welcome everyone including our future Miners too! Here is what is happening this week.
Teacher Appreciation Week
This week is Teacher Appreciation Week all over the country. Please remind your students to thank their teachers for all their hard work this year.
If anyone would like to donate money or an Amazon Gift Card so that we could purchase some small items to show our appreciation for our Placerita staff we would greatly appreciate it. All donations can be dropped off to Mrs. Murray in the front office. If you can put your donation in an envelope marked "ASB - Staff Appreciation" that would be perfect. Electronic Amazon Gift Cards can be sent directly to our ASB director at lschultz@hartdistrict.org.
Band Concert
This Wednesday is our final band concert of the year. It will be at the Hart Auditorium and it begins at 7:00 PM. We would love to see you there.
Open House
Thank You all so much for coming to Open House last week! It was great to meet our new future seventh graders as well as see everyone there. I hope you all enjoyed the evening with all the activities.
Testing and Testing Schedule
All our testing days are over from the past two weeks. The only thing that we have left may be some make up time for those who may be finishing a specific section or test. So, just to be clear, there are no specific testing times scheduled this week. It is good to have that all complete.
ASB Lunchtime Activities
Fridays and continuing through May 6th will have Olympics Day with a Lunchtime Activity. This week we have the Tug-of-War activity. It will be a fun way to see the strength of teams!
Our minimum day that was on 5/25 has been moved to 5/27 for our staff appreciation lunch.
That’s it for tonight. Have a great week.
Mr. Turner

Sr. Turner

Everything below appears in the Prospector each week for your review or reminder.
Students are required to be wearing their IDs all the time they are at school.
There are several reasons that each student is required to wear their IDs during school each day. School Check-in each morning, identification for safety purposes and lunch purchases are a few of the reasons that students will need to have their personal IDs on them at all times just like last year. They will not be required during PE or during time that students are participating in activities where there would be a safety concern like in wood shop.

Hello Placerita Families! We have some very exciting and important news for our community.
The new Student Care Line for Placerita will be broadened to include mental health and wellness concerns. If you are struggling or know someone who is struggling, the Student Care Line will make early intervention possible, allowing for small problems to be handled before they become big problems.
If you are a student, parent, or community member with a concern that needs attention from an administrator at Placerita please text us here. You can send a text message to (661) 282-7522. All text messages received will be forwarded to our former Text-A-Tip line. We now have a new reporting system for our students and their families to use to share a concern about another student's well-being. This reporting system is called the Student Care Line.
Over the last several years, the William S. Hart Union High School District has placed an emphasis on student wellness. Knowing that a student who feels emotionally supported is more successful, the District set out to open Wellness Centers on each of our campuses, with the first of those opening in August of 2019. Now the District is looking to expand this effort even further by taking the existing Text-A-Tip line and re-branding it as the new Student Care Line, providing a more comprehensive function.
Text-A-Tip has been used by students, staff and families to report something out of the ordinary. With the goal being “If you see something, say something"; Text-A-Tip was there to report if someone was wanting to hurt themselves or others, or even if there was the possibility of someone committing a crime.
The new Student Care Line will be broadened to include mental health and wellness concerns. If you are struggling or know someone who is struggling, the Student Care Line will make early intervention possible, allowing for small problems to be handled before they become big problems. Cause for concern might be indicated by:
Trouble controlling emotions
Withdrawal from friends and usual activities
Feelings of rejection or solitude
Feeling constantly disrespected
Frequent loss of temper
Increased risk-taking behavior
Talk of suicide or loss of hope
Self-harm
Declining school performance
Students and families are at their best when their emotional well-being is supported. Please join us in our commitment to this effort by using our Student Care Line when you need it.
