Testing Day - October 16, 2019
PSAT 8/9 – Grade 9
The PSAT 8/9 is designed to give students an actual PSAT test, but with content geared for the ninth grade. This test is in the same format as the PSAT/NMSQT (see below).
PreACT – Grade 10
Most students in grade 10 will take the PreACT on College and Career Day. The PreACT consists of five tests which measure academic achievement in English, writing, mathematics, reading and science. The PreACT score report provides information about student's skills, interests, plans, and goals. The PreACT helps students prepare for the ACT, a college admission test taken in the spring of the junior year. The PreACT predicts an estimated ACT score range, compares student scores to college readiness benchmark scores, and reviews admission standards to college. PreACT score reports will be distributed and explained to students in January.
PSAT/NMSQT – Grade 11 and selected students in grades 10
College bound juniors and select 10th graders will take the PSAT/NMSQT test on College and Career Day. The PSAT was revised in 2015 to be more of an indicator for college-readiness. The PSAT helps students prepare for the SAT, a college admissions test. Students will be tested in evidence-based reading and writing, and mathematics and will see how their scores compare to those of other students across the country. PSAT scores may also be used to predict SAT scores. Students score reports will include a personalized statement of specific academic skills that need attention, along with suggested steps to improve these skills. High achieving students who take this test in 11th grade and meet other program requirements may enter National Merit Scholarship programs. Score reports will be distributed and explained to students in January.
