Mr. Dowling's Class update
Week in Review:
We had a great week to wrap up the 1st Semester! Learners finished up their Scoot game and we were able to complete our 2nd Quarter writing sample. For Lit Circles, we got a start on our book projects. We will be keeping them here over break. We will see how much we get finished when we come back. I might send them home to be finished after that.
Looking Ahead:
The next time we meet it will be the week of January 8-10. Please enjoy your time with family and get caught up with the pacing guide, if need be. We discussed our 3rd quarter books this week so I will be emailing you details. Just know we will be starting 3rd Quarter Lit Circles on January 22-24. You will have plenty of time to find the book we need.
**3rd Grade Learning Coaches** Our 3rd Graders will have the opportunity to participate in a program called Readers Become Leaders. It is a National Program sponsored by the NCAA. It requires learners to document the minutes they read during 2nd Semester. They will choose the top 5 readers in the city and take them to a College World Series game. They will get to go out on the field and have their name announced as well as other prizes. Last year, one of my students won!
There will be a Pep Rally on January 11th at Creighton University’s DJ Sokol Arena. A bus will be provided and will leave our school at 12:10, Friday afternoon. The Pep Rally Starts at 1:00 and we will be back between 2 and 2:30pm.
Here is a short video explaining it.
Mrs. Walker's class update
Week in Review:
This week we wrapped up our Lit Circle projects and the projects were AMAZING. I was so impressed with the creativity and effort they put into them. Great Job!! We also decided on our next book for 3rd Quarter! We are choosing from Call it Courage, Shiloh, and Ramona Quimby Age 8. Ask your learner which book they chose and please have that book ready to go the week of Jan 14th!
Looking Ahead:
Please enjoy your time with family and get caught up with the pacing guide, if need be.
The first week of class Jan 8-10 Learning Coaches will be coming back to the classroom for about 30 min so we can do a refresher course on grading and expectations. We will also be handing out the pacing guides at this time.
Mr. Gamble's Class Update
Week in Review:
Thank you for a great first semester. We accomplished a lot and learned so much. Your learners put forth a great amount of effort and showed who they truly were. Thank you to all learning coaches for the support of those learners.
Looking Ahead:
January 7th we start the second semester. I hope all learners and learning coaches have a great, restful break. I am eager to start our work again and make more great strides in the next five months.
Resources:
There are countless resources on the internet for math. Throughout the year I will post some here that could assist your learner or yourself. Learning coaches can use these to check the work of a learner or preview topics.
This month’s resource can be effective for all courses. Mathway is a great resource for parents to support their learners in math. This free math problem solver answers Algebra, Geometry, and many more problems with step-by-step explanations. It is set in the form of a scientific calculator for all notations.
Weekly Online Math Lessons:
Online lessons have will resume to their normal times beginning in January. Sessions will resume Friday, January 11th with Math08 at 9:15. Reach out with questions.
