The Attacks of 9/11
About the Book:
Title: I Survived the Attacks of September 11, 2001
Author: Lauren Tarshis
The Morning of the Attacks
'It was a blue, sunny sky when it all went up in flames," (1) Lucas said . Earlier that morning two planes crashed into the Twin Towers. Lucas and his father were very close to the site of the catastrophe and looked death right in the eyes. Luckily, they ducked into a nearby convenience store with several other people and escaped with minor cuts and bruises.
The Aftermath
"I'm just glad we made it out alive, son," (11) said Jonas's dad. His dad was the chief firefighter that was going in to save all of the people from the buildings. If Jonas wouldn't had been there to tell his dad to get out of the soon-to-fall Twin Tower, he would have died. "And that Uncle Benny's okay," (12) added Jonas. Jonas's Uncle Benny was also working in the Twin Towers after the planes crashed and made it out only a few short minutes after they both collapsed.
