FORWARD Exam for all 10th Grade Students
Wisconsin Students in Grade 10 will be participating in the Forward assessment during the April testing window. Our school is scheduled to take the Forward assessment on April 11th during the school day.
The Forward assessment tests students in the areas of Social Studies. One or more subtests may be administered daily during the identified time frame and it is very important that your student be in school during this time. Students not in school on the scheduled testing days will be scheduled for a make-up test prior to the close of the testing window.
Attached below is an Informational Brochure for Families which gives more information about the assessment including its purpose, what scores will be provided, and how the scores will be used.
The Forward assessment measures the knowledge and skills your student(s) should have acquired by the time they reach each grade level. Their performance on the assessment will not affect any of their current grades. Please encourage your son or daughter to take the test seriously and do the best they can. The results of these tests will be used to help school staff make determinations or placement in classes to best support your child(ren).
If you have any questions, please contact Constance Barreau, HHES Academy Principal at cbarreau@sdb.k12.wi.us or 608-361-3318

The district uses the data to create and implement resources and procedures to create a safe and welcoming environment for all students. Athletic Eligibility for this Spring and Fall (Next School Year)
As we enter into 4th term, the summer, and next fall, I wanted to highlight a few academic policies as it relates to academic eligibility for the remainder of the spring and into the fall of next year.
ELIGIBILITY RULES as it pertains to ATHLETICS/ACTIVITIES:
Have a current GPA of 2.0 or higher.
Eligible students in athletics or activities in the School District of Beloit must pass all classes each grading term.
Students with 1 F or incomplete in a grading term will be ineligible to compete in any contests for the first scheduled contest week. The student will regain eligibility after the first week of competition and academic eligibility is re-established. The student is able to practice during the ineligible period. Students with 2 or more F's or incompletes in a grading term are ineligible to compete in any contests for the first third of the season based on WIAA allotment of games. The student will regain eligibility after the first third of the season is over.
A student may erase ineligibility status following the last grading term of the school year through summer school courses (including correspondence courses) at the same or some other school, provided the course(s) made up are equivalent to the one(s) that caused the ineligibility and are approved by the principal.
Fall Exception Rule: Any student with one F or incomplete for the Spring grading period shall be ineligible for the first 14 days of competition beginning with the first scheduled contest. For example, if football practice begins August 4, the first official game is August 21st; the student would be eligible to play 14 days after August 21st. Any student who receives more than one F or incomplete for the last grading term and participates in a fall activity, will automatically be suspended from competing in the first 1/3 of the regular scheduled season/activity unless ineligibility status has been erased through summer school. After this 1/3 suspension is served, the student will be eligible to compete again. However, when 1st term progress reports are due, the student must be passing all classes in order to continue participation. If any failures are present on the progress report, the student will be removed from the activity for the remainder of the grading term.
Prom is on May 6th from 7:00pm-11:00pm at the Eclipse Center located in Beloit, Wisconsin. The theme is A Knight at the Oscars. Tickets are $25 each and will be sold May 1st through May 5th during lunch outside of the cafeteria and after school in the IMC. Students with 5 or more unexcused periods of absences and/or tardies, from April 11th through April 28th, will not be eligible to attend prom. Students who have received an out-of-school suspension between April 11th through April 28th will not be permitted to attend, either. A dance contract AND guest contract (if you are bringing a guest from a different school) must be submitted BEFORE you get in line to buy your ticket. The dance contract will be sent to you through email and you can pick up a guest contract in Academic Affairs.
Students can also sign up to receive hair and/or make-up assistance from the Glam Squad prior to prom. Students can use this link: https://forms.gle/Cwhzq8cF4eSMcNyu8 to sign up for a time slot! On May 3rd, a barber will be available to cut/line hair. On May 6th, help will be in the form of hair styling, makeup, and accessories.
Please see Ms. Barreau or Ms. McAlister if you have any questions!
