The Spartan Chronicle - 11/8/21

Week of November 8th

Principal's Message

Herrick Families,

What a week! Our boys basketball got off to a hot start on the season and our cheerleading had clinics and tryouts. We also wanted to congratulate Mr. Dunham's Homebase for creating the most impressive door decorating display! The competition was fierce and very close with just 7 points separating the top 8 doors. A picture of the winning door is seen below.

PTA: Please see the PTA information below. Our incredible PTA is putting together a few fundraisers and is looking for submissions for the PTA reflections which is a national PTA event. Information will be included in our announcements and packets of information will available for students to pick up! Our next PTA meeting is November 17th in the Library @ 6:30 PM - we would love to see you there!

STUDENT ATTENDANCE: We know that student appointments cannot always happen before or after school, so please remember that if you need to pick up your student in the middle of the day due to an appointment, please call the office prior to 8:30 AM. This will allow our office to prepare a pass for the student to leave at the appropriate time, allow them to be in the office when you arrive, and streamline the signing out process. Thank you!

LIBRARY: Our library is up and running! To learn what is going on, please see the Library Newsletter!

Please take a look at our November Spirit Calendar that our Student Council is sponsoring!

Thank you and have a great rest of your day!

WORLD TRICKSHOT DAY

World Trick Shot Day Competition

Our next student council competition will conclude on Tuesday, December 7th with World Trick Shot Day. Students, outside of school, will have the opportunity to record and submit school appropriate trick shot videos in November. These videos will be compiled into a google form that will be sent out at the end of November for students and staff to vote. On December 7th, students will have the opportunity to watch student submissions during lunch and homebase and a winner will be announced by the end of the day.

Spectator Guidelines

In response to parent feedback as well as working with our other conference schools we have updated our spectator guidelines. In these guidelines you will find the indoor contest and outdoor contest rules. You will also find the very general spectator guidelines for each of our conference schools.

As is the case with lunch, athletic competitions are crowded events. Due to the number of people within the gymnasium, social distancing cannot be maintained at these optional events. Prior to attending a game, students and families should be aware of the definition of close contacts. Click HERE for more information.

You can find the spectator guidelines HERE. As well as our Herrick website under Families.

PTA Raise Craze! (Repeat Item)

Each year PTA supports multiple programs for all of our students, staff and families. Raise Craze is our big fundraiser for the year. It will go from November 1st-18th. Raise Craze is an online platform enabling students to set up secure, custom websites where they request donations via email. During the fundraiser, students pay it forward by completing Acts of Kindness for others.

To keep it fun 7th and 8th grade students will compete against each other for highest amount raised. The grade that raises the most will get a special treat at lunch. First prize is a ticket for the opportunity to throw a pie at the principals or teachers face. (Up to 5 students)
