Today Lincoln School celebrated the 100th day of school. During this time classes celebrated with various activities related to 100's. Some counted to 100, collected 100 items, I even did my traditional 100 positive phone calls home. Next week we enter the month of February, and this year is unique since it is 2022, so we will begin our celebration on Wednesday with a spirit day from our student council. Students are encouraged to wear Tutus, Ties, and or tennis shoes on Wednesday. This is a fun way to celebrate 2/2/22! We will also plan for 2/22/22 where students can coordinate and dress up as twins or other fun creative ways to celebrate that Twosday!

Next Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2022, is also World Read Aloud Day, a day to celebrate the read-aloud! Classrooms will participate in virtual author read aloud during the day:

Carrie Finison for our K-2nd grade students at 1:00 - 1:20 PM and Dusti Bowling for our 3rd-5th grade students at 2:30 - 2:45 PM.

Today was also the day we say farewell to our wonderful caring nurse Mrs. Lefelstein. She is going to enjoy fun in the sun with her husband during a well-deserved retirement. Students greeted her with cards, cupcakes to show our gratitude for all she does with our students.

Please keep an eye out for your 2022-23 middle school Exploratory Course Selection Forms! These will be going home with your students on Tuesday, 1/25/22 and need to be returned to your elementary school office no later than Tuesday, 2/8/22!

We would love to know your feedback-5essentials Survey

District 303 participates in the annual Illinois 5Essentials Survey that collects feedback from all of our stakeholders; our students, teachers, and parents. The Parent Survey is currently open and will remain so through March 11, 2022. Your participation in the parent portion of the survey will give you the opportunity to share your thoughts on important elements of school effectiveness. The responses will help us understand the conditions at your child’s school and guide our improvement efforts. All responses are confidential and will never be connected to you or your child.

To take the survey, please visit and select the appropriate survey. As part of this communication, we have included a link with additional information about how to access the survey. Most notably, make sure you enter Kane County in the box for county even if your home or your child’s school is in DuPage County. This will allow you to correctly select your child’s school.

All District 303 teachers, as well as students in 4th through 12th grades, are being asked to complete this survey. 5Essentials Reports will be generated for schools if their teachers and/or students meet the response rate threshold of 50 percent. Teachers will work with students to assist them with logging in and taking the student survey.

As a parent/guardian, this opportunity will allow you to share your thoughts on the important elements of school effectiveness in a survey about Lincoln Elementary School. We value your feedback and appreciate you taking the time to provide us with your input. Please visit the D303 5Essentials website or call the main office if you have any questions.

We need You!! Watch DOGS (Dad's of Great Students)

First of all would like to thank our Watch Dogs! We have had wonderful male role models join us on Fridays for lunch. This is a great way to bond with your son, daughter, grandchild, or special child in your like and also show the importance of school. If you have interest in being a Watch DOG, or have interest in coming in one of the available days, please sign up, if you haven't already done so this also requires a background check and following COVID protocols but we would love for more participants!

The schedule has a lot of slots after January. Here is the sign-up link.

Lincoln is excited to virtually welcome authors Greg Pizzoli and Aisha Saeed!

On Monday, Feb. 7 at 10AM, Greg Pizzoli will be speaking to our kindergarten through 3rd grade students. Mr. Pizzoli is the creator of the Baloney & Friends series as well as a three-time Theodor Seuss Geisel Award recipient for The Watermelon Seed (Medal winner), The Book Hog (Honor book), and Good Night Owl (Honor book).

Students enrolled in PM kindergarten are welcome to join us for this special event. PM kindergarten students who wish to attend should be dropped off at the front office at 9:55AM on Monday, Feb. 7. They will need to be picked up from the front office at the conclusion of the presentation, which we anticipate will be at approximately 10:45AM. Students should return to Lincoln as usual for their regular school day. The students will watch the presentation from the LRC and will be supervised by LRC staff. If your PM kindergartener will be joining us, please let know in advance. Thank you!

On Tuesday, Feb. 8 at 10AM, Aisha Saeed will be speaking to our 4th and 5th grade students. Ms. Saeed is the author of the forthcoming book Omar Rising and is a Pakistani American writer, teacher, and attorney.. She also wrote the New York Times bestseller Amal Unbound, Written in the Stars, Yes No Maybe So (with Becky Albertalli), and Diana and the Island of No Return.

Families have the opportunity to order signed (bookplate) copies of the authors' books. Please see the attached order forms for more information. A paper copy also went home in your child's backpack. Please note that all orders are placed online; Lincoln will not be collecting money or order forms. Thank you!
