School Dance!

Our first school dance is Friday night, September 29th! Tickets are $5 dollars and can be purchased next week during the school day, or at the door. There will be concessions(including pizza) for the students as well.

The dance will be from 6:30 - 9:00 in the school cafeteria. Students can be picked up either at Viking Hall, or in front of the Intermediate School. Because it will be dark, students are not allowed to walk to their cars.

Fundraiser...Ends Tomorrow!

This fundraiser will close on Saturday, September 23rd! Thank you for all your support so far!

We are excited to kick off the 2023-24 school year and can't wait for students to build strong relationships on campus.

I am hoping you might be willing to help us build a vibrant and connected school culture at LVMS. Fundraising is something that helps to fund student activities and give teachers additional resources to support students. Through our partnership with School Funding Group we are simply asking for a minimum $20 dollar donation, and for that donation, you will receive numerous discounts on brand names like Amazon, Home Depot, Nike and Oakley. These discounts can far outweigh the cost of your donation.

The proceeds of this fundraiser will help fund:

  • Teacher Training
  • Teacher Supplies
  • Student Incentives
  • Technology for the classroom
  • UIL and OAP Supplies
  • School Improvement

We appreciate any support you can give and can't wait for this to be the best school year ever!

Coming to the Pep Rally?

Our first pep rally of the year is Thursday, September 28th at 3:45. If you're planning on coming(and our pep rallies are pretty fun!), it's easier to come by earlier to get your badge. You can come by the main office from 8:10 - 11:30, or 2:00 - 4:00 any day next week to get signed in. The line to get checked in on pep rally days can get long, so this is a good way not to miss it!

Attendance Questions

Please give the Parent Portal system about 24 hours to change codes for any excused absences, medical excuses or sports related absences. If you still see a problem with the absences listed after 48 hours, please contact our attendance clerk.

Spectator Guidelines for Athletic Events

We have our first Varsity football game this weekend, and in a continuing effort to assure the safety and enjoyment of all athletes and spectators, the following procedures will be enforced during home athletic events:

  1. Outside food and drink are prohibited.

  2. There is no re-entry after exiting the event.

  3. All students 5th grade and younger must be accompanied by an adult guardian in order to attend home games. The students must remain under the supervision of that guardian while at the event.

  4. Standing, loitering or horseplay under and around the stands, concession stands, or any other area is prohibited. There is absolutely no standing allowed by the rails and walkways in the stands. Repeat offenders will be required to leave the event and campus.

  5. Revealing, provocative and/or inappropriate dress will not be allowed, nor will inappropriate behaviors or foul language. Repeat offenders will be required to leave the event and campus.

  6. Once inside the event, middle school and high school students with a student ticket will be allowed to sit in the designated student area on the home side. Students are allowed to sit in the reserved or general admission sections only if they are under the supervision of an adult guardian.

  7. The use of alcohol, controlled substances, tobacco, and electronic cigarettes are prohibited on school premises.

  8. Only pre-approved individuals will be allowed access to the sidelines and track before and during football games.

  9. Spectators may not enter the field area or cross to the visiting team side.

  10. Everyone is expected to abide by the UIL’s expectations of proper sportsmanship. Failure to do so may result in being removed from the event and campus.

Lago Vista ISD appreciates everyone’s cooperation and support as we work to keep a safe and enjoyable environment at Viking athletic events.

Vikings Sweep The Gators

7th B Lady Vikings vs.Gateway Gators

4-0! The Lady Vikings continue on their win streak in week 4. The first set was 25-4 and the second set 25-10. All the ladies got time on the court and played well. Our serves were no match for the Lady Gators as they couldn’t return the ball. We did get one rally where the girls had an awesome pass, set, and hit that the Lady Gators couldn’t defend. We will continue to work hard on and off the court to become the best versions of our team that we can. I’m proud of these ladies and the time they put in to become better athletes. Don’t miss out on our game next week. We play at Jarrell and hope to continue our “W” streak.

8th B Lady Vikings vs. Gateway Gators

Tonight our Lady Vikings came up first set 25-16, and second set 25-12 making their record 4-0! The Lady Vikings set the tone early for the Lady Gators. We communicated much better as a team tonight and worked on the court to get the job done. These ladies put in the work and time it takes to become better athletes and stronger volleyball players. We play Jarrell next week, away. Come watch these ladies do their thing on the court!

7A vs. Gateway

Our Lady Vikings had yet another victory at home vs. Gateway Monday evening! We are now sitting at 4-0 for the season and it feels good! We got our groove back with serves, had numerous aces, and it definitely set the tone for each set because Gateway couldn't return them! The girls are improving so much and getting along well! It made for a slow game but we will take it! They all continue to have great sportsmanship and work hard in practice and I couldn't ask for more than that! Contributing to the team victory: Leya Sund, Lila Rodriguez, Te’A Turner, Brinkley Gold, Amelia Ferguson, Lauren Carpenter, Elena Prescott, Molly Cortez, Rain Nelson, and Sloane Wolfe.

8A vs Gateway

LADY VIKINGS COME STORMING BACK FOR A BIG WIN AT HOME

Monday evening your 8A Lady Vikings took on district rivals Gateway Gators this past Monday evening in a big match that will go a long way in determining who will have a higher tournament seed at the end of the season. Gateway opened the match very strong, playing mistake free volleyball throughout much of the first set. The Lady Vikings however continued to chip away at the Gators lead throughout the set. Despite almost tying the first set at 24 the girls dropped the first set 25 - 23 due to an unfortunate deflection of the ball off a block that gave Gateway the lead 1 set to zero in the match. The second set started off much like the first with Gateway continuing to force the Vikings into making mistakes. The Lady Vikings were finally able to break through halfway through the set. The girls strung together aggressive serves, good attacks, and great defense allowing themselves to pull away from the Gators and win the 2nd set 25-14. The 3rd and final set was back forth with Gateway having a lead of 12-10 almost halfway through. That's when Elah Francisco stepped back to the service line and essentially ripped the heart out of the Lady Gators. Elah served 15 straight points, which included 5 aces, leading the Vikings to an emphatic 3rd set victory 25 - 12. The win brings the Lady Vikings overall record to 5-1 and 2-0 in district play. The girls are on the road again next Monday as they head out to Jarrell to take on the Cougars.

Stat Leaders from Monday Night:

Aces - 7 Elah Francisco; 5 Kyrksen Cook; 4 Ada Weyant

Kills - 8 Ada Weyant, Kyrksen Cook; 2 Savannah Johnston

Assists - 8 Ada Weyant; 7 Kyrksen Cook

Digs - 8 Ada Weyant; 6 Jolie Mosser; 5 Kyrksen Cook

Football Runs Into Salado

The LVMS Football Teams traveled to Salado this Thursday to take on the Eagles. The 7th grade team was coming off a hard-fought battle against Lampasas, and was looking for their first victory of the season. While their goal wasn't fully achieved, they did see great improvement! The Vikings and Eagles were tied up 6-6 in the 4th quarter (after a TD by Castro) when Salado punched it in the endzone one more time to take the lead 14-6. This ended up being the final score of the game, but the Vikings fought hard til the very end and saw much improvement from week one to week two. Notable efforts were made by all! Offensive standouts include: QB/DE-Levi Castro, LB/RB-Brody Norris, DE/WR-Ayden Chaffin, TE/LB-Jayden Vargas, and DB/RB-Cole Schroeder. The 7th grade Vikings look to defeat Marble Falls on Thursday September 28 at Vikings Stadium (at the HS).

The 8th grade Vikings were coming off a victory last week vs Lampasas. This week's game did not go as planned and the Vikings fell to the Eagles and a strong passing game. Macer Ballard scored the team's only TD. The ensuing 2 pt conversion was a success, as well, when Brennan Brown connected with Devin Parsons for the 2 points. The boys had a good week of practice but fell short of defeating the tough Eagles team. Karter Kudrna led the offense at the QB position and fought the entire night. Steven Schwerdt rushed the ball well out of our "Odin package" and the ball carriers fought for every yard they could. The defense held up well against the run for most of the night, but struggled to stop the passing attack of the Eagles. The 8th grade team is now 1-1 with an opportunity to get above .500 next week, at home, vs Marble Falls.

Next week, the Vikings will play THREE, yes, three games vs Marble Falls. Game times are as follows: Super Team 4:30, 7th 5:30, 8th 7:00. We hope to see you there and...

GO VIKINGS!

Upon receipt of referrals, parents/guardians of referred students will receive a consent form to have their child screened for the Lago Vista ISD Gifted and Talented Education Program.

Vaping = DAEP

One significant change coming out of the Legislative session this year is that any student who is either using or in possesion of an e-cigarette(vape) of any type is an automatic DAEP(Disciplinary Alternative Education Placement) sentence.

HB 114 makes offenses involving the possession and/or or use of vapes a mandatory DAEP offense. School districts will now be required to place all students who are caught in possession and/or or using vapes (of any kind – not just those with drugs) into their DAEP.

Please share this with your children - it's just not worth it!
