Close Reading
This researched-based strategy is effective in all content areas. For the rest of this year, each teacher should invite an administrator in to watch a Close Reading lesson. We are collecting walk-through data around this strategy 6-12 across the District.
When you implement this strategy please send an invitation to April and/or your evaluator.
If you need more support in implementing this strategy, please reach out to Kristen or Tyson.
Consequences for Tardies
We are rebooting this process beginning Monday 2/4. An announcement will be made for students as well to make sure they are aware.
Conferences
Attendance and Hallways
Hall Pass Reminder
- Only send one student per pass in the hallway.
- Avoid sending students in the hallway during the first and last 5 minutes of the block.
Off-Campus Update
- Students will be given new off-campus passes for this semester.
- Light blue for A day, Gray for B day, and Yellow for OOB.
- We will be delivering these passes to students in the next few days. As you are doing hall duty, please ask all students that are leaving the building to show you their passes. If they do not have a pass, please direct them to the office.
Special Education Updates
- Students who are alternately assessed will be noted as such in the Special Education flag on Infinite Campus.
- Federal law requires that we have a general education representation at all IEP meetings. If you receive an invitation from Maribel, please do not decline. Coverage will be arranged upon request.
- Any IEP team member can request to convene the IEP team at any time to problem solve. Please collaborate with case managers regarding concerns that you might be having. Student case managers are indicated by the special education flags.
Dr. Gausman's Visit to West High
Message from Dr. Gausman:
Dear Staff Members of West High School –
This year, I am again scheduling time in your buildings where I can learn from you about what is going on in your building and in your departments. I will visit your school on Wednesday, February 13, 2019 at 3:15 p.m. in the Media Center. My visit is scheduled so that I may have some time with you after the school day for some informal conversation. As I visit with you this year, I simply look to learn what is going well in your building and departments, what challenges you face, and how I might better serve you as your Superintendent of Schools. Attendance for this visit is not required, but I certainly look forward to visiting with those of you who may be available.
Thank you for all that you do for our students.
Dr. Paul Gausman
