News from Mrs. Mankin
We hope that your child(ren) have experienced a smooth transition to the 2019-2020 school year. We are honored to be working with each and every student and partnering with you as we learn and grow together this year. There are many new faces and spaces at New Britton, and we will have continued opportunities to get to know each other and explore the building. We will also share a Staff Spotlight each week with our communication so you can learn a little about us.
We are excited to add two new Related Arts classes to our rotation this year, Global Studies/Spanish with Ms. Coffman/Mrs. Shelton and STEAM with Mrs. Cater. We also have art (Mrs. Smith), music (Mrs. Thornsberry), and physical education (Mrs. Jackson) as part of the Related Arts rotation. Your student's teacher will share his/her classroom's schedule so you can help him/her remember when to wear tennis shoes for PE. Be sure to ask your student questions about these classes. Here are some ideas:
- What is STEAM?
- What kinds of things will you be doing in Global Studies this year?
- Will you play instruments in music this year?
- What has been your favorite movement activity in PE?
- What mediums or materials have you already used in art?
We strive to make connections with students and families. We will be hosting our Meet the Teacher Night for parents of students in grades 1-4 on the following dates:
- Grades 3 and 4 - Tuesday, August 20 - 6:30-7:15 and 7:15-8:00 (parents attend 1 session)
- Grades 1 and 2 - Thursday, August 22 - 6:30-7:15 and 7:15-8:00 (parents attend 1 session)
If you have a question before then, please call or email to connect with your student's teacher. If you have general questions, please call the school office at 317-594-4130, and we will connect you with someone who can help.
As always, thank you for partnering with us in education.
Sincerely,
Lori Mankin, Principal
