For the Parents
Parent's Guide to Resilience.
Chapter 2- Building a Resilient Family
Last week we learned that it is important to build relationships with each member of your family. The key to this was communication. The reason for this communication is so as a family we can learn to be resilient or "bounce back" when times are hard. Children and parents alike need to know that they can openly share their feelings when things go wrong. And we all need to know that we have a support system. Take time to talk to your children, share something that you overcome, have them share with you something that was hard and that they were able to work through. Every member needs to realize their level of resilience. In these past few weeks and in the months to come, we could all be facing some trying times whether it is losing jobs, sick family members or just too much time together it is best to know that you can talk with each other and make a plan of how you will get through this and what the outcome will look like when it is all over.
