Henry Moss Middle School

Empowering students to Lead, Learn, and Build Relationships

Welcome Back to School!

Welcome to the 2015-16 school year! We hope you had a restful summer vacation. Our teachers and staff are excited about the many opportunities they will share with students throughout the year. New staff in our building this year are Katie Jo Wallace, teaching 8S Science, Erin Pharis, teaching 7S Science, Lynsey Miller, teaching 7B Social Studies, and Daniel Bemiss, teaching ESL. Each of these teachers bring something special to the Henry Moss family.

We would love to have you involved in our building! You can do this by attending SBDM meetings the first Wednesday of each month at 3:30 p.m. You can also join our PTO, their first meeting is Wednesday, August 26 at 6:30 p.m. in the school library.

At Henry Moss Middle School, we focus each day on 3 main Expectations: Respect, Academic Excellence, and Leadership.

Our students come to school each day with a great attitude, ready to learn! Teachers greet students as they enter the classroom and students wait to be seated by their teacher.

Academic Excellence

This week, students completed district reading and math assessments,as well as,pretests in their classes. Teachers will use these assessments to guide instruction based for your student.

Our students are enjoying extension classes, which include Academic Team, Future City, Extended Art, Extended PE, Global Studies, and KYA (Kentucky Youth Assembly). New extension programs for our students include Chinese and Strings.

After winning a grant from Lowes, our DLC garden doubled in size this summer! SFC Bowen, teachers and students picked fresh fruits and vegetables and donated them to the Salvation Army.

STLP also received a grant and now has access to 10 robotics kits for students to build and program.

Please call the school or email me if you have any questions or concerns about your student’s academic achievements. Our school office hours are 6:15 a.m. - 3:15 p.m. I look forward to seeing you throughout the year at sporting events, dances, band & choir concerts, and leadership nights.
